Corrin, the player character from Fire Emblem Fates, and Bayonetta, from Sega‘s Bayonetta series, will join Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for Nintendo 3DS as playable characters, Nintendo announced.
Corrin will launch in February 2016 at $4.99 for each platform, or $5.99 for both platforms together. The character will be playable in both male and female variations. The add-on will include two songs from Fire Emblem Fates. The 3DS version will also add trophies of Ryoma and Xander from Fire Emblem Fates.
Here’s Corrin’s official rundown:
Like Wii Fit Trainer, Robin and the Villager, players can choose to play as a male or female version of the character. Corrin has the blood of a dragon in his veins, allowing him to transform and pull off attacks like no other fighter.
Bayonetta will launch in February 2016 at $5.99 for each platform, or $6.99 for both platforms together. She comes in two variations: the blue costume from Bayonetta 2 and the original costume from the first game. There’s also a color variation inspired by Jeanne. The add-on will include the “Umbra Clock Tower” stage from the original Bayonetta, as well as some songs from both Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, and Bayonetta, Jeane, Rodin, and Cereza trophies, too.
Here’s Bayonetta’s official rundown:
The Umbra Witch herself is joining the giant cast of playable characters in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U as a result of the worldwide Fighter Ballot. Just like in her action games, Bayonetta is a combo fighter in Super Smash Bros., chaining different kinds of attacks together. Her signature move is Witch Time, which slows down opponents if they are within range. Her new exclusive stage is called Umbra Clock Tower and is filled with moving platforms and even an alternate world.
Additionally, Nintendo announced that Cloud will be available later today at $5.99 for each platform, or $6.99 for both platforms. He’ll come with the “Midgar” stage, in which “Summon Materia” will appear throughout, enabling the fighter who acquires it to use summons that change the terrain and won’t damage the player who activates it. Summons include Ifrit (creates an inferno that moves the terrain itself), Ramuh (manipulates floating terrain by attacking with lightning), Odin (cuts the stage in half with a single slice), Leviathan (floods the stage with water, flowing from right to left), and Bahamut ZERO (fires a devastating attack from satellite orbit).
Here’s Cloud’s official rundown:
As revealed in the Nintendo Direct presentation last month, Cloud from Final Fantasy VII is coming to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The character will have two costumes: one inspired by the original Final Fantasy VII game and one from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Like in Final Fantasy VII, Cloud possesses Limit Breaks when fighting in Super Smash Bros. As Cloud gives and receives damage, or uses his Down Special Attack, his Limit Break meter will fill. Once full, Cloud can activate his Limit Break.
Also available today is a “Geno” (Gunner) Mii Fighter costume from Super Mario RPG, and a Chocobo Hat Mii Fighter accessory from Final Fantasy.
Nintendo also announced a set of Mii Fighter costumes coming in February:
- Bionic Armor (Brawler)
- Takamaru (Sword Fighter) – Nazo no Murasame-jo
- Ashley (Sword Fighter) – WarioWare
- Gil (Sword Fighter) – The Tower of Druaga
- Tails (Gunner) – Sonic the Hedgehog
- Knucklers (Brawler) – Sonic the Hedgehog
Amiibo fighters for Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta are also in production.
These will be the last pieces of downloadable content for Super Smash Bros. The game will have a total of 58 fighters, 84 stages, 99 pieces + 97 hats for Mii Fighters, 743 trophies (Wii U) / 707 trophies (3DS), and 507 music tracks. All downloadable content began development after the game was launched.
