Mewtwo will join Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS as a downloadable add-on character on April 28.
The character will be available a tad earlier and free of charge for players who own both versions of the game on April 15.
Otherwise, Mewtwo will be available for $3.99 for a single version of the game, or $4.99 for both versions.
An update, version 1.0.6, will launch alongside the add-on, adding:
- Downloadable content
- Tweaked character balancing
- Sharing functionality on Wii U: Photos, Mii Fighters, Replays, Custom Stages, and more
More downloadable content is planned for release in the future, including:
- More costumes inspired by major game series (Mega Man X, Xenoblade Chronicles, Mega Man, etc.). The first wave includes Smash Bros. T-Shirt, Dunban Outfit, Cat Suit, Monkey Suit, Link Outfit, Majora’s Mask, X’s Armor, and Proto Man Armor.
- Lucas as a playable character. Release planned for June.
Additionally, Nintendo is opening a “Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot” on the official Smash Bros. website where consumers can let the development team know which new fighters they would like to see enter the ring.
More Amiibo figures are also on the way, including Dark Pit and Palutena in July, and Olimar and Pikmin, Zero Suit Samus, Bowser Jr., Gannondorf, and Dr. Mario in September. Mewtwo and Lucas Amiibo are also planned for future release.
