PS3 getting cheaper new model in Japan

Existing models to be discontinued as a result.

PlayStation 3 will receive a price drop in Japan on August 28, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia announced.

The system’s 500 gigabyte “Charcoal Black” super slim model will go from 28,552 yen (30,837 yen with tax) to 25,980 yen (28,058 yen with tax). This will be a new model numbered CECH-4300C.

The existing “Charcoal Black” 500 and 250 gigabyte CECH-4200C and CECH-4200B models, as well as the 250 gigabyte “Classic White” CECH-4200BLW model, will be discontinued as a result.

PlayStation 3 is currently in its eighth year from release.
