OVERKILL Software making co-op Walking Dead game

Payday 2 developer OVERKILL Software is working on a Walking Dead video game, series creator Robert Kirkman announced.

“I’m a huge fan of what Overkill and Starbreeze have been able to do with Payday 2,” Kirkman said in a Steam announcement. “It’s just an amazing co-operative game and I’m excited to be able to announce that Skybound is partnering with Overkill to make a Walking Dead game. I’m happy to say that it’s the co-op game that all of the Walking Dead fans have been waiting for.”

The game, due out in 2016, is part of a long-term collaboration with Skybound Interactive committed to a game developer and publisher partnership for the The Walking Dead IP, and collaborating on a triple-A game to “expand the franchise into the next decade.”

Outside of the new game, Kirkman announced that a Walking Dead-themed “Lucille Slugger” bat will be available as a weapon in Payday 2.
