Mario Kart 8 DLC to add playable Link, Villager, and game-themed courses

Nintendo UK posts first details on upcoming add-ons.

Nintendo has detailed its upcoming Mario Kart 8 downloadable add-on packs.

The first pack, due out in November for $7.99 / £7.00, adds the following:

  • 3 characters – Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, and Link (The Legend of Zelda)
  • 4 vehicles (including the Blue Falcon kart representing F-Zero)
  • 8 courses (including “Wario’s Gold Mine” from Mario Kart Wii and an F-Zero-themed course)

The second pack, due out in May 2015 for $7.99 / £7.00, adds:

  • 3 characters – Villager and Isabelle (Animal Crossing), and Dry Bowser
  • 4 vehicles
  • 8 courses

Though not detailed, some of the courses will be themed after The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing.

Users who purchase both packs, either together for $11.99 or separately, will receive eight different-colored Yoshis and Shy Guys that can be used right away.
