Early buyers of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will receive exclusive downloadable content for use in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Konami announced.
The bonus content will only be available in the first batch of retail editions and for a limited time in the digital version. It provides players with additional resources for a “Mother Base” area available within The Phantom Pain, which is introduced during the events of Ground Zeroes and plays a “central role” in The Phantom Pain. Details are scarce, but it promises to give players an “edge” when they begin The Phantom Pain.
Additionally, Ground Zeroes consumers will be able to unlock exclusive content for use in The Phantom Pain. Prisoners of War and VIPs rescued in Ground Zeroes will be added to The Phantom Pain‘s Mother Base, and character skins will be carried over.
Konami also detailed second screen functionality through the iDROID app, which replicates Big Boss’ in-game communication and map device. It will be available through iOS, Android, and Xbox Smart Glass free of charge, and can be used to call up maps, summon air support, or play the cassette tapes found throughout Camp Omega.
Finally, Konami announced it is dropping the price of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One retail versions of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes from $39.99 to $29.99, bringing it in line with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 retail versions.
As previously announced, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One digital versions will cost $29.99, as well, and the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 digital versions will cost $19.99.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will launch on March 18 in North America and March 21 in Europe.
