Rumor: PSone and PS2 emulation headed to PS4
Sony targeting HD resolutions, suggests Eurogamer source.PSone and PlayStation 2 game compatibility is coming to PlayStation 4 via local emulation, according to a “well-placed” Eurogamer source.
The same source claims only PlayStation 3 titles are set to run in Sony’s PlayStation Now cloud service.
PlayStation 3 has built-in emulators for PSone (via disc and download), PS2 (via download), and even PSP (minis). And PS Vita has emulators for PSone and PSP downloads.
According to Eurogamer’s source, the same internal emulator strategy is planned for PlayStation 4. And Sony is trying to get older titles to run without the blurry upscaling seen on PlayStation 3, suggesting they’re targeting native HD resolutions.
