Target mails Xbox One early, new images and details
Xbox One has featured challenges, top games page, more.Twiter user Moonlightswami received his Xbox One pre-order from Target two weeks ahead of release. He has since been sharing details and screen captures from the next-generation Xbox.
Here’s what we gathered:
- The Xbox One dashboard panels are a custom color.
- There are featured challenges for various titles, accessible on the Xbox One dashboard.
- You can snap the GameDVR to side of a game and record for up to five minutes each session.
- Xbox One has 3,012 playable Netflix items, 1,219 playable Hulu items, and 739 playable Blu-ray discs.
- Top games, accessible on the Xbox One dashboard, shows how many people are playing each game. As of now, there are 112 playing Killer Instinct, 36 playing Forza Motorsport 5, and 28 playing Dead Rising 3.
- You can rent, pre-order, and buy movies through Smartglass on Xbox One.
- Xbox One boots to the dashboard in 17 seconds. This was tested using a stop watch.
- Xbox One dashboard, at the moment, has three tabs: Pins, Home, and Store.
- Xbox One’s day one update is 500mb and took two minutes to download on a 65mbps download / 30mbps upload connection speed.
- Call of Duty: Ghosts comes with seven-day free trial of Xbox LIVE.
- Call of Duty: Ghosts automatically began to install upon insertion. There is no queue, but you can see its progress on the Xbox One dashboard. It took 30 minutes to install.
- There aren’t any more “busy” or “away” settings on Xbox One. Only to appear as “online” or “offline.”
- If you get an achievement on the same account you use on Xbox 360, they transfer over. There’s no double achievements.
Moonlightswami’s console has since been banned. But his purchase was a legal one. Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson has reached out to Moonlightswami on Twitter hoping to rectify the situation, and promised that “whatever happened, it will not be permanent. I can say that with 100 percent certainty.”
