December 3DS update to bring Nintendo Network IDs, Miiverse

Combine your Wii U and 3DS eShop account balances.

A 3DS system software update next month will enable users to register their Nintendo Network ID for Wii U on their 3DS systems and combine Nintendo eShop account balances, Nintendo announced.

This will enable users to purchase Wii U software using the remaining balance on their 3DS eShop accounts, and vice-versa. 3DS users without a Wii U will also be able to create a Nintendo Network ID for the first time.

The update will also bring Miiverse to 3DS. Miiverse requires a Nintendo Network ID and Wi-Fi connection, and will allow users to share their experiences and tips with other players, similar to how they already can on Wii U.
