XSEED Games is bringing Senran Kagura Burst to 3DS via the Nintendo eShop in North America this fall, the company announced.
The “over-the-top side-scrolling action game” is set in an academy that serves as a front for an underground school where female students are secretly trained in the art of ninjutsu. It offers two separate storylines. “Skirting Shadows” puts players in the shoes of Hanzo Academy’s “good shinobi,” while “Crimson Girls” tells the same story from the point of view of rival school Hebijo Academy.
Players will assume control of the game’s five primary characters, who will earn experience and level up as they become full-fledged shinobi. In the “Ninja Room” hub area, character interactions reveal the thoughts and feelings of the students before and after each game mission.
Players will embark on “retrieval missions, multi-character battles, and epic boss fights.” During combat, damage will be revealed through the gradual destruction and removal of the girls’ shinobi outfits.
The game will be voiced in Japanese and subtitled in English.
