A new roguelike puzzle game is coming to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita next year. Announced for the platforms, in addition to Steam, at Sony’s indie PAX event tonight, Road Not Taken is the latest game from Triple Town developer Spry Fox.
Road Not Taken is “a game about life’s surprises, both positive and negative,” Spry Fox CEO David Edery said on the PlayStation Blog.
“In our take on Robert Frost’s poem of the same name, you wander through a mysterious forest in the aftermath of a large snowstorm. As you explore, you’ll come across wild animals, impassable barriers, and lost children.”
The game aims to explore what happens when life’s events through you off the path you expected to take.
Gameplay-wise, Spry Fox is going for a puzzle roguelike game, where you can “play for dozens of hours, and no two sessions will ever be quite alike,” “each game is full of unexpected surprises and dangers, and we’re not going to spell out how to play it,” and “you’re going to die many, many times.”
As you progress through the game, the world will gradually unfold, become more complex, and you’ll unlock new things to encounter or boosts that change how you play.
