Former F.E.A.R. devs announce Betrayer for PC
An "atmospheric first-person action adventure" game.Blackpowder Games, a studio founded by former Monolith Productions developers, has announced Betrayer, an “atmospheric first-person action adventure” game coming to PC via Steam Early Access on August 14.
The studio, based in Seattle, was formed by the veteran leads that created the No One Lives Forever series and original F.E.A.R. franchise.
In Betrayer, players are washed ashore in New World 1604, where you’re expecting to join a struggling English colony on the Virginia coast, but are instead faced with ghosts and mysteries in a land without color or life.

- Chart your own course through an untamed wilderness teeming with danger and discovery.
- Unravel the colony’s many mysteries by gathering clues and awakening the memories of the dreaming dead.
- Build up an arsenal of early 17th century weaponry including muskets, bows, crossbows, and throwing axes.
- Collect untold treasures hidden in the wilds by the colonists for reasons you will come to understand in time.
