Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business president Don Mattrick is leaving Microsoft to assume a “top job” at social gaming company Zynga, “multiple sources close to the situation” have told AllThingsD.
Mattrick’s position at Zynga could be as high as CEO, the site reports.
According to the site’s sources, the official announcement could be made “as soon as today.” Until then, consider this a rumor.
Update: It’s confirmed. Don Mattrick has become the new chief executive officer at Zynga, as well as a member of the board of directors, effective July 8. Microsoft has not announced an immediate replacement for Mattrick’s now former position.
