Basement Crawl a 2.5D “maze-based action game”

Play with four players locally or eight players online.

As announced back in June, A-Men developer Bloober Team is working on a new PlayStation 4-exclusive game called Basement Crawl. A new IGN preview today offers first gameplay details.

The game is a 2.5D “maze-based action game” inspired by Bomberman and Spy vs. Spy, according to Bloober Team’s Peter Bielatowicz. The objective is to be the last man standing by setting traps to catch, hurt, and eliminate other players.

Some sort of leveling or progression system might be in place, but the game will be entirely skill-based to “focus on hardcore players instead of casuals or middlecore,” Bielatowicz said.

Players will start with four available character classes, each with their own skills, strengths, and weaknesses “balanced carefully against each other.” Up to four players can play together locally, or up to eight players online.

Basement Crawl will be available as a PlayStation 4 download title sometime during the system’s “launch window.”
