
PlayStation 4 will launch this holiday season for $399 / 399 euros / 349 pounds, Sony announced during its E3 press conference.
Confirmed first-party launch titles include DriveClub, Knack, and Killzone: Shadow Fall. inFAMOUS: Second Son will follow in Q1 2014.
There are currently over 30 PlayStation 4 exclusive games in development at Sony’s Worldwide Studios, with 20 set to launch during the first year, and 12 of which are completely new IPs.
PlayStation Plus memberships from PlayStation 3 and PS Vita will carry over to PlayStation 4. PlayStation Plus benefits include:
- Online multiplayer access (yes, you have to pay for multiplayer)
- Exclusive discounts
- Cloud game saves
- Instant Game Collection
To celebrate the launch of PlayStation Plus on PlayStation 4, “DriveClub PS Plus Edition” will be offered free as an Instant Game Collection title.
Sony Pictures is also working on new original programming and unique access to entertainment content for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Network.
And finally, Gaikai streaming will come to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in 2014 in the U.S., granting console owners access to a limited library of PlayStation 3 games. And that streaming functionality will also come to PS Vita somewhere down the road.
