Activision has confirmed Call of Duty: Ghosts, the next entry in its top-selling shooter franchise, for a November 5 release across PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. It is also in development for “next generation consoles.”
“Ghosts delivers an all-new story, all-new characters, an all-new Call of Duty world, all powered by a next generation Call of Duty engine, which is a leap forward for the franchise,” said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg.
Modern Warfare developers Infinity Ward are at the helm. According to executive producer Mark Rubin, the console transition served as the “perfect opportunity” to build a new sub-brand and engine for the franchise.
A teaser trailer, dubbed “Masked Warriors,” was released today, but a full reveal is scheduled for May 21 during the next-gen Xbox press conference.
“We are consistently thrilled with the overwhelming response received from critics and consumers alike to the Call of Duty series, which has firmly established its home on the Xbox 360 with the game’s largest and most engaged community,” said Microsoft interactive entertainment president Don Mattrick.
