I am worried about the next gen consoles, well, actually i am not too worried since PS4 is not going to block used games but what about Microsoft? I think that i will be a PC+PS4+Wii U+3DS+Vita the next gen.

At least my specs are good

    • veruses

Those Celcius are too damn high if it’s on idle.

      • Tac-Mex

Yeah, i will get a cooler

      • Tac-Mex

Also it’s my old and busted pc

    • well the 460 might not cut it anymore once PS4 hits the market and I wonder why your RAM is running at a mere 665 mhz but besides that it looks good. I’m quite happy with my 560TI and Phenom X2 1090T + 8GB RAM @ 1066 mhz and can wholeheartedly recommend the GPU as it offers stellar value for money and runs most modern games at WUXGA rez, at least very high settings (or equivalent) if you scrap resource hogs like SSAO, AA or Tessalation

      • PS4 might be based around a HD7870 from what I heard… Personally, I found Nvidia’s GPUs tend to be overpriced… Look at the Titan and HD7990 for example…

    • PrinceHeir

      12 GiB RAM O__O

i want to upgrade mine to 32 GIB.

i only have a puny 6 GiB RAM.

      • I only have 8 GB, but it’s more about the speed of the Ram, not just how much Ram you have. The CPU factors into this as well.

If you primarily just want to play games, I don’t see any need for 32 GB of ram lol. You probably have a MB with 4 slots, most = 4×240pin DDR3 on the board. Even if you buy some good ram separate you are looking at $200-300. You also have to consider how much space the heat sinks on the ram can take up. Some are very tall.

Depending on what you have hardware wise, I’d look at upgrading the graphics card first. It can get tricky when upgrading, compatibility and all.

You also have to consider what PSU you have, if you start doing big time upgrades, you need the power for it.

It’s hard to give anymore advice without knowing more about your specs.

  • So I’m wondering if Adam Orth still works at Microsoft

    • Tac-Mex

I don’t understand your comment too much but yeah i think he is still working there

    • Major Nelso apologized already, so yea he’s still there despite being an infantile, smug douche.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if they demoted him, I think firing him would be a bit harsh, but he did post a bunch of flame-bait on twitter, which in turn does hurt the brand. Who knows? I bet MS asked him to remain very quiet for now at the least.

  • Kurisu Makise

So does anyone have an idea what compatibility is like between US PSN and CAD PSN? With the whole BRS region lock out, seems like I’ll be needing a US account now. I’m hoping that we’re in a similar boat to HK/JPN and that I can setup the US PSN account on my PS3, transfer the title later this month or early to mid-may onto Vita running my CAD account and be fine, cause switching to a US account for one game seems even worse than switching to a JPN or HK account to play a few titles.

    • Did some searching and found this

“Canada and USA share the same version of the game, thus have the same region lock on the DLC. That’s why it worked. In other countries, It wouldn’t.”

“Yeah, Canada and the US are the same region-wise. The DLC code for Omega will work on a Canadian PSN account. I live in Canada, pre-ordered from and used the Omega code on my system/psn account without issue.”

      • Kurisu Makise

Nice job Shin~! Ugh, knowing NISA the price isn’t even going to make me want to go through the hoop period but I’ve kinda been waiting too long to get lazy, maybe… If it’s $29.99 I won’t even bother.

  • Just finished BioShock Infinite yesterday and I have to admit that I wasn’t prepared for that ride. Not a huge fan of first person shooters but BSI makes the shooting fun and challenging on hard or 1999 mode. BSI is about Elizabeth and she’s one of the most awesome NPCs I’ve ever encountered in a game. She feels like a real person and grows on you. The journey is great but the ending is simply mind blowing. I recommend everybody interested in the game either being very cautious on the internet not to have it spoiled or finish the initial run asap. It’s highly impacting stuff and quite frankly the best ending in a video game since I can remember.

    Liz <3

    • I managed to pick up the game with my Best Buy coupons earlier this week. I plan to play it pretty soon, but I’ve been excited about it because the game is about Elizabeth. They should have had her on the front cover darn it!

      • It’s a bloody shame about the cover but it was a decision made by suits at 2k marketing. ‘Cuz you know, market research shows that average Joe won’t buy a game with a girl on a cover. Same reason Sony marketing wanted to push Ellie back on the TLOU cover but ND contested that decision and had their way.

Levine said in BSI’s case the cover was intended to elicit impulse-purchases by your average game stop visiting frat boy who ain’t got no clue what BSI is. To Irritaional’s credit they allowed the informed gaming demographic to choose their favorite flip cover design which looks much more sexy. That design I linked below is also pretty awesome. Can’t find the ultra-hi-rez one atm, sorry:

EuroGamer’s review is rather spot-on btw, I think from now on I will weigh their reviews pretty high in my purchasing decisions.

    • Sevyne

Man, I couldn’t agree with you more. That ending was just mind-blowing. They really outdid themselves with Infinite and that’s quite a feat considering that the first game was incredible as well. The world, the people, the story, and most importantly Elizabeth were amazingly well crafted and developed.

      • Elizabeth has set the bar rather high for future NPC companions. I think the expectations of Ellie will by sky-high especially as ND themselves said they wanted to create an AI companion unlike any other. So far Alyx and Elizabeth are the yardstick to reach or, who knows, it’s ND after all, exceed. I never thought I could ever really care about a fictional game world or a fictional character but Liz really grew on me.
After the credits rolled and the final post credit scene finished I was immediately thinking about her fate and am determined to play 1999 mode to completion and pay special attention to any plot details and Voxophones alluding to the game’s final twist as it immediately makes more sense now. Even the very first conversation between the Leuteces and Rosalind’s opening quote make so much sense now.

        – “One starts an experiment knowing one could fail.”
        – “One does not start an experiment knowing one has failed.” are not a riddle anymore, but a stroke of pure genius.

Can’t wait to see how Irrational are gonna capitalize on the new revelation at the end and how they’re gonna make it work in a future BioShock game now that the cat’s out of the box.
Honestly, I thought this console generation was amazing but with a few awesome games still to be released I can’t even grasp what those developers, who had 6 years to hone their skills in the HD era, are gonna be able to pull off on the next batch of Sony and MS hardware. I feel like the sky and the budget are the only limits now, as the technology seems to not be a limiting factor to developers’ vision anymore if the first comments made about PS4 (which obviously should apply to Xbox3 on a technological level) by developers hold any merit.

It’s awesome being a gamer right now =)

    • Guest

Best ending ever. My only problem was the fact you could only have 2 guns at a time. I loved being able to switch weapons in the original on the fly depending on the situation. Game is absolutely terrific overall though.

      • Well, as I started 1999 mode I realized that you can only specialize in two weapons as money is incredibly scarce. That way you have to pick your favorites and I was quite content with the shotgun/flak cannon and machine gun/carbine (on my first run on hard) as they work rather well for most situations. It’s a highly mobile game (you’re always on the move) and usually there are enough firearms lying around. It might be somewhat restraining but it also challenges the player to specialize and adapt :P

    • Kobracon

Was just about to post about Infinite XD

Yeah that ending is absolutely amazing. Hope more ppl play it so we can discuss it at length.

      • It really irks me not being able to discuss it as not everybody has finished it yet. For me BSI is the best case in point that narrative and characterization in video games can surpass novels and films =)

  • OverlordZetta

I was literally one day away from picking RO up when they had to go and announce a new one! Bah!

Ah well. So, has anyone here imported Tales of Hearts R? I’ve been thinking about it, but my lack of Japanese makes me worried I’d eventually get stuck somewhere and be screwed.

    • If previous remakes are any indication, you’ll be just fine with a walkthrough for the DS version (there’s one on GameFAQs). You can get through TOD Director’s Cut just fine with a PS1 walkthrough, for example. If you do run into any significant changes though, there’s always Japanese walkthroughs. Just do search for テイルズオブハーツR 攻略 (kouryaku) and you should find a couple. Here’s one right one right now:

Just pull that baby through Google Translate and you’ll be fine. If all else fails, you can always come back here and ask for help.

Played some Darkstalkers and CVS2 yesterday, not sure how much gaming I’ll get in this weekend. It’s so sad, I spend most of my disposable income on games and then never have time to play them D:

      • Guest

Boy I hear that. I have class, but my tuesdays and thursdays are pretty open so those are my game days. Unless I have some papers to write for other classes.

  • For those wondering about the Japanese release of Muramasa the Demonblade ( (Muramasa Rebirth overseas) and the new characters there’s no codes with the Japanese version. I just got the game, soundtrack and a bonus poster card so it looks like the new characters will be paid DLC

I’ll include a pic of what was included

Oh and I downloaded the demo for Toukiden and haven’t tried it but it was getting 3 out of 5 stars on the Japanese PSN a few days ago

    • DrForbidden

Thank you. It is quite unfortunate that MAQL decided to charge extra for the only incentive for my purchasing this game again. Right now, I’m not sure if I will buy it, or just save my money for Dragon’s Crown…

      • PrinceHeir

what the hell where MAQL of not adding the new content on the go?

seriously WTF is wrong with you!?!?!

        • DrForbidden

I don’t understand what you wrote.

          • PrinceHeir

            sorry about that.

don ‘t know why did i put “where” in that sentence.

im just saying they should have put it there in the first place to encourage more players to buy this Day 1.

            • DrForbidden

Oh, I see. Thanks. We are in perfect agreement on that point. I already supported Vanillaware by buying the WII version. Not sure if I should buy the game again at this point. If at least 2/4 of the DLCs were free, then I would have it on pre-order in a heartbeat. Now, I’m just waiting to see.

    • Elvick

We already knew they were DLC… at least I read it early on. Such a bummer though. Wish we had some video of them.

    • PrinceHeir

      looks awesome though :D

      your in japan right now?

  • RSene

Since this is an open forum, i’d like to ask some help with a Ni no Kuni trailer I’m trying to add subtitles. There are parts I’m not getting whar is said, so I thought I could try and ask for help here.

    • I’ll try to help if possible. Which parts? I’ll check this soon as I get back.

      • RSene

Thank you for your reply. The trailer is this:

Below are the lines i can’t figure out what is said:

00:37 – How Oliver is called? “Purehearted One”?

00:54 – Mister Crippy! -> It looks like he says Crippy, but isn’t the name of the living doll Drippy?

01:46 – We need their help. We need their power. ??????????????????? -> It looks like he says “So the feed should off” which doesn’t make sense to me.

01:56 – There were once… four great sages, but you understand that one of them was defeated by Shadar. -> for this one I just would like a confirmation. I’m not quite sure about it.

02:16 – ????????????, Everything I went through, was it all for nothing? -> no clue what is said here.

        Thanks in advance.

        • 00:37 – That sounds right to me. I think Oliver having a pure heart is key to the story? I can’t be for sure, I haven’t played it yet. I think the line is – Oh Purehearted one, will you please come and save our world?

00:54 – It does kinda sound like Crippy, but I’m pretty sure Oliver says Mister Drippy! I listened to this a few times.

01:46 – We need their help. We need their power … to defeat … Shadar.

01:56 – It’s close, it might also be – There were once… four great sages, we understand that one of them was defeated by Shadar. (I’m not 100% sure on this, even after listening to it a few times.)

02:16 – Tell me, mom, Everything I went through, was it all for nothing?

Sorry for the delayed response. I ended up having a really busy day! I hope this helps out.

          • RSene

Wow friend! You helped a lot!

It’s funny that after you have the writting of what is said exactly, it all becomes so clear to understand that you think how didn’t you realize it before.

Ok, now I have everything I need to make the video.
Thank you for your help. I was stuck on this for weeks!

            • Glad I could help. =)

  • Warboss Aohd

    hey…….take a look at this

    It’d like Shining Force…..with guns…..and zombies.

  • Played Toukiden for abit, one thing I don’t like is the character combat and movement are too slow. At first I thought if you play a class with a big weapon ya but I tried the archer and was surprised.

Game mechanics are fun though and the AI that plays with you seemed smart, didn’t get in my and were using special moves

    • DrForbidden

I didn’t enjoy the demo, but then I’m not interested in hunting games in general. Graphics-wise, it was disappointing, but I guess that’s to be expected given that it will also be released on PSP.

The demo only has about 3/5 stars on PS store, which is highly unusual…

  • Azuardo

Finished Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 this week, and really enjoyed it! Was kinda curious about the Kasumi cameos, but disappointed nothing on her was elaborated. Can finally look forward to NG3RE when it comes cheap, now.

Made quite a few purchases recently, too: Rune Factory Oceans, Resident Evil 6, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Assassin’s Creed 3: Join or Die Edition and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. And with PS+ I plan to work through Okami HD. Got a lot on my plate!

    • PrinceHeir

well they kinda expander it now on Razor’s Edge(playing it right now)

but yeah, it seems there were something more to it during Sigma 2.

i love Razor’s Edge. definitely get it!!!!!

1000x times better than the garbage known as Vanilla NG3.

at least i got the nightmare costume so there’s that

      • Azuardo

Will definitely pick it up. Hopefully it’ll come cheaper after not too long. Glad to hear it’s much better now.

    • MosquitoLemon

Ooh, is Rune Factory any good? I loved the DS games

      • Azuardo

Haven’t played it yet! I played the Wii version very briefly a couple of years ago and it seemed good. If I remember, I’ll try to let you know if I get a chance to try it out soon. Maybe I’ll give it a go this week some time and either reply here or in the next Open Forum :)

  • Bloodios

Suppose that Square Enix is interested in making another Final Fantasy-related film and they’re gathering opinions from their fan-base (which would be us) on what would be a well-received plot, what would your idea be?

Personally, I would like them to cover the events that leads to the birth of Sin (from Final Fantasy X). If done right, I believe it could very well be a very epic story. It might even be big enough to convince Sony Pictures Entertainment to show it on the big screens across the world.

    • Kobracon

Final Fantasy 8 deserves a movie! END THE FF7 STREAK!

      • PrinceHeir

        want FFVIII Remake!!!!

    • Sae-Won Yoon

It’d be nice if they gave some of their underrated games a film.

      FF9 or Type-0 or……………..Versus XIII

*goes to cry in a corner for the umpteenth time*

      • MosquitoLemon

FF9 is underrated? Everyone I know loves that game!

    • new_tradition

Oooooh, forgive me for a lengthy response, but I’ve actually thought about this before ^^

I’d much prefer a video game, but if a movie is the only option, I’d love some kind of a sequel to Final Fantasy VIII to explain more on Ultimecia’s identity, origin, and motives at the very least. I understand that she apparently exists much further in the timeline than the FFVIII present time (hundreds of years, something waaay into the future), so I don’t think anything can be done to prevent her birth or inheriting the powers.

(For the record, I do not believe in the Rinoa = Ultimecia theory. It would be kewl, but I’ve read some arguments against it which were pretty convincing. Also, I think it was even confirmed officially to not be true..? Not really sure about that, though.)

But beyond that, I want to know more about HER. Who she was (was her birth name really Ultimecia? xD), who gave her powers, why she had no knight (or if she did, what happened to them?), and heck, what happened to Ultimecia herself to drive her to compress time.

(plus supporting cast, of course ;D)

For me personally, I’d love for there to be tragic reasons to who Ultimecia is and to make her sympathetic even. It was suggested that the prophecy about her defeat at the hand of a SeeD consequently had
the SeeDs of the future try to hunt her down. Maybe she wasn’t even a
bad person, and some vague prophecy just ruined her life? ):

Plus I got some kind of sagely wisen vibe from her in her final form battle. I mean with lines like “Time…It will not wait. No matter…how hard you hold on. It escapes…”, you gotta wonder O.O

(Actually, I was just reading a transcript of Ultimecia’s English lines from the game, and the stuff she says while possessing Edea lead me to think there’s more to it than just being a villain for the gamers. Espeically the stuff in Deling City. Like, “This is reality. No one can help you.” :O)

Furthermore, maybe some clarifications and even additions on the lore and mythology of Hyne and Sorceresses that we know of from FFVIII. If they can swing it, also some bits on what happened to the main characters of FFVIII (offsprings, lasting legacies, stuff like that). I’m curious to know about Rinoa’s condition. I was under the impression a sorceress can’t die until they pass on their powers or something, so how that effects her relationship with Squall and other things intrigues me.

But I can already imagine the ending scene of the hypothetical movie…By the end, we see Ultimecia as she is, in her kick-ass castle, on her throne, looking powerful. But we understand how and why she comes to that point. Then cut to the final battle confrontation scene from FFVIII in glorious CGI made with the same engine used for Advent Children or something, and for a measly 20-30 seconds, we see the main cast in glorious high rez. Ultimecia stands up, says the infamous “Griever! Make them bleed!” quote, and…

    • Kurisu Makise

Personally, I think it depends on what type of film and experience they want to make. If they want a journey type experience, I’d say FF9 of FFXII could be the answer. If they want that anime style then FF8 or FFXIII. Personal choice just due to how much I’d enjoy it, FF6 Movie.

  • so i just watch the first episode of Devil Survivor 2 The Animation
man they did a great job with it just like Persona 4 The Animation
if you can watch it youll love it ;D

    • Eclipse

Indeed! I thought it was a great first episode.

It really managed to capture the feel of the game.

    • That reminds me, I was first episodes of everything and forgot about that

    • Guest

Wait! There is a Devil Survivor animation!?!?! TO THE INTERWEBS!

  • Houeclipse

Off topic here but that girl in the Ragnarok Odyssey picture really resembles Hilde from Soul Calibur series… O.o

    • Tetsu

Not off topic, its open-forum! XD

Dis is da place for dat homez

    • DichaTesoro

She does. (Did not know who the character pictured was, actually.) Hilde has one of the best designs in the series.

      • Houeclipse

        Cannot unsee the resemblance …

    • She does? I guess I’m too picky

    • She does? I guess I’m too picky

  • new_tradition

Why are so many awesome games coming out in English this year? I’m honestly overwhelmed. I have to actually pick and choose what to get right away or not :O

    • Yeah, especially the end of the month is gonna be rough. Soul Sacrifice, Black Rock Shooter, Deadly Premonition Director’s Cut, Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen, and I also wanted to import 7th Dragon 2020-II from Japan. That’s too much. I’ll definitely get Dark Arisen as it’s dirt cheap in Europe (17 pounds on Zavvi), and then one other game that I haven’t decided on yet. Probably Soul Sacrifice because of the online component.

    • Tetsu

This money battle starts in August for me, and doesn’t end until the year is over. My poor empty wallet…:( BUT, my hands and eyes will be full, of awesome gaming goodness! XD

  • DrForbidden

Started playing 2 games this week: Sol Trigger and MGR:Revengeance.

Sol Trigger I liked immediately upon playing, though it’s tough as balls. Enemies deal a massive amount of damage to your starting squad, and your squad has a devil of a time hurting them. A large amount of my money is spent on healing potions. I’ve just reached Chapter 3, and only now have some decent weapons and armour started showing up. Sol Trigger is definitely a very high quality, high-budget production. I’m surprised how much audio they managed to include.

MGR:Revengeance was sort of a slow burn for me, in contrast to Sol Trigger. When I first started the game, I was quite turned off by the ugly character models and generally substandard graphics. I thought, “This game is from the same people who made Anarchy Reigns?! Wha?” I also found the controls to be quite horrible. As I kept at it, though, it grew on me. Maybe I got used to the controls and graphics, or maybe they got a bit better, but I’m starting to enjoy it. I’ve just reached the Mexican sewers with Wolf.

    • Kobracon

Wow really? I thought the models were great…and I loved the controls. The only real problem I had was the camera.

      • DrForbidden
Models later in the game looked better, but in this first cutscene, they didn’t look good at all. Raiden’s face looked terrible as well.

        • Kobracon

i’d expect so considering its mostly just skin grafted on to his cyborb body (bottom of his lip at least)

IMO he was supposed to look weird. Like he points out in some codecs, its enough to fool ppl from far away, but obviously fake close up. And in that prologue, you see his face waaay close up.

          • DrForbidden

I can’t disagree with that. He looks much better after the prologue, though.

  • Kobracon

Bought One Piece Kaizoku Musou (JP) for the Vita and it is AMAZING. Its miles better than the first and the sheer character variety (and interestingly, gameplay variety) is just amazing.

The enemy count is increased dramatically and the Style mode and Nakama Strike add even more awesome action to the mix. I can’t wait for the English version to understand the story!

    • Elvick

Had they localized the Vita version, I’d be buying it. *sigh*

      • Kurisu Makise

This is how I feel, this is the kind of game I’ve been waiting to see go handheld and I just can’t play it in my language =(

    • PrinceHeir

      i’ll buy it on PS3!!!!!!

    • what’s your take on visuals and performance? I remember KM1 had some severe slow-downs on PS3 despite not being a graphically ambitious game. how well does the sequel perform on Vita as I am more interested in the Vita version than PS3

      • Kobracon

Well it manages to look great on the Vita. They opted to make far away enemies disappear when theres too much on screen. They are still susceptible to damage so the giant AOE attacks can still hit them which could have been annoying but was saved by that feature.

I only experienced one slowdown event in one stage but that was after I played what must have been 20+ stages. Still not sure what caused the slowdown, but that was the only case I found.

Overall I’m quite impressed with the Vita version. To activate your Style mode, you just have to touch the bottom right of the screen (which lights up when your bar is full). It’s quite intuitive.

        • nice, thanks for sharing your impressions. once I have some money to spare I’ll get to importing it. the gameplay certainly fits Vita more than PS3 and the Anime (or CGI) cut-scenes must look gorgeous on that screen

  • It would be nice if Nintendo announced a sequel to Metroid Fusion.

    • Tetsu

Yes…it would be nice, it would be very very nice. I freakin’ love that game.

    • MosquitoLemon

Heck yeah, what a glorious game, it’s the only Metroid I actually finished!

    • Preferably for the 3DS. Not first-person either. Other M bombed so I don’t expect a Metroid title for the Wii U.

  • Tetsu
    • Guest

That’s definitely an endorsement for Shovel Knight, if I weren’t getting the game already then I’d certainly be considering it now.

  • Tetsu

So, I’ve been perusing other gaming sites and forums for years now. And you don’t realize how much you appreciate sites like Gematsu and until you start sifting through the comments on others. And I’m not just talking about how awesome this place is to find great news, but community. I love how tightly knit and friendly it is here. I love that people aren’t absolute morons, like you find elsewhere. I like that everyone is helpful, and interesting. And that I can read through an entire page of comments, without wanting to leave. It’s nice.
So here’s to you guys, and this place, its awesome XD

Sal, and moderators, and fellow commenters, I really appreciate it. thanks!

    • I’m really glad you like it here. =) Thanks for the kind comment.

      • Tetsu

No problem! Thanks for making things here fun and under control :)

    • Rawr

    • Kobracon

Believe you me we had some probs at one point, but luckily the great mod crew weeded them out.

      • Tetsu

That’s another thing that’s great, they actually do stuff. They mend the problem, and make it as orderly as they can. :)

    • sonyntendo

Well said. I remember me saying the same praise for Gematsu and the people here

  • PrinceHeir

guys what do you think of Bleach Soul Resurrecion for PS3?

this actually looks ace, i might even watch the anime now that it has ended ^^

    • I never actually played it. I loved the anime up until around episode 64 or so. That’s when the first major filler arc starts. I’d recommend skipping those and just watch the filler summary episode. I think that first filler arc ends around episode 108 or so. You can watch the last filler arc episode, and it typically summarizes what happened in the fillers for you, if you really care to find out lol.

Actually, I just looked on google, this is a list of the other fillers.

      128-137 *Stolen Hogyoku filler arc
      147-149 *Rukia side story filler.
      168-189 *New Captain filler arc
      204-205 *Random one-episode fillers
      213-214 *Karakura Riser Omake filler
      227-265 *Zanpakutou Rebellion filler arc
      266 *Hueco Mundo Recap
      287 *Magic Lamp Gaiden filler
      298 *Hell Chapter Movie Promotion
      299 *Hell Chapter Movie Prologue
      303-305 *Random one-episode fillers
      311-316 *Random one-episode fillers
317-341 *Gotei 13 Invasion filler arc
      355 *New Year Special

I watched some of those lol. Some of them are more enjoyable than others. My major gripe is they mess up the flow of the series, well, in my opinion.

I’ve switched over to the manga before they ended the anime, it’s still ongoing and has been quite good. I’d say skip the fillers and when the aizen saga of the show is finally over, around episode 309-311 or something, consider switching over to the manga.

For the record, I consider the first 64 episodes almost must watch. I think it starts messing with things when the fillers start.

      • Kobracon

Aw I HATED that first filler. It went on for what felt like AGES!

      • PrinceHeir

yeah i kinda wish they just focused on the storyline for and and leave the fillers for manga.

make it like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, where they focused on the main story line first.

        • MosquitoLemon

Manga is the source material. The point of ‘filler’ is that the anime has caught up to the manga and they need something to ‘fill’ the gap until there’s more of the manga to cover.

          • That isn’t always the case when it comes to fillers.

I’ve always felt like they should just air reruns, or go on break for a while. Which is one of the things that bother me about the fillers. I can’t help but shake the feeling that the JPN TV stations just want to milk the property for profits, damn the quality of the animation, to hell with the quality of the story, etc. It might not just be the TV stations, but I know money is involved. The problem is, too much filler can kill a series. Just look at the D.Gray-man anime. I was still fansubbing back then, and our DGM team was so close to dropping it because of the poor fillers. Then, all of the sudden, they went back to the manga. It was fantastic to work on/watch again. The catch is, the ratings were terrible, and even going back to the manga couldn’t save it. I think even the fans in Japan had given up on it, which says quite a bit.

It was a series close to my heart, which plays a big role in my disgust for fillers till this day.

        • Brotherhood = Classic. In my top 10 for sure.

I watched the original FMA anime and enjoyed it as well.

    • Kobracon

      Wait….Bleach ended????

      • KingNigma

        Yeah like a year ago.

        • Kobracon

Wow….I quit around Hueco Mundo. Guess I should finish what I started. Then maybe continue the manga.

          • new_tradition

lol, you hung on longer than I did-I stopped after the Soul Society arc xD

  • almostautumn

Finally got my copy of Senran Kagura— I’ll be totally honest; I was really caught off guard by how explicit this game actually is XD For, like, two hours I wore an “O” face, but then finally relaxed into the gameplay itself.
Lot of fun; at first I was seeking a lock-on feature, but now that I’m comfortable with it I see that it really wouldn’t work. Also, I dunno how I feel about the RPG elements; it’s not that I think they’re bad or anything like that, but that, as a regular RPG gamer, and an RPG gamer who grinds the hell out of all my char. levels until I can go no further until I progress to the next area— well, I am essentially going at the slowest pace in moving the plot forward now:P I mean, I’m destroying; not even on chapter 2 yet and I have all 5 of the chars at level 20, but it is a bit bothersome for me. My fault entirely, but figured I’d share

    • Kobracon

I’m gonna pick mine up one of these days. What do the RPG elements entail? Just a level up system? Are there gear? Are there skills to learn?

I know theres a clothing system to dress them up but do they give any stats besides just being cosmetic?

      • almostautumn

Just levels; you unlock combos and new moves by levels, but there’s no customization to these. The clothing is just accessory also; no RPG stats to them.

        • Kobracon

Ah alright. Thanks. I hope you don’t end up learning everything learnable halfway up the levels coz that would make lvling the rest just plain boring :/

          • almostautumn

You learn everything pretty quick— I mean, I grind, but I’m pretty sure I don’t have anything else to learn, and I’m not even done with chapter 2…
Still, it’s the goodies of levels, updated base stats, that’s the kick. Feels good to absolutely rip through everything, but—
you definitely level up way too fast. I really cannot see having even the slightest of challenge for the rest of this, so– I dunno. It’s fun, it’s colorful, and I wouldn’t say that that is so bad a quality— but this is certainly not an import that is going to last very long.

            • Kobracon

Must be a difficulty option that will make it harder and give you good exp for higher lvled characters ala Dynasty Warriors….

  • almostautumn

So anyone here have an idea how playable Tales of Hearts R is for someone who has a very limited understanding of Japanese? I’m really hooked right now; loved the demo, love the art, and it’s just totally the type of game I want to be playing on my Vita right now. I don’t mind not knowing the story; I just want to know whether or not that game has either a plethora of intricate fetch quests or not? I know kanji for directions as well as the usage of particles concerning them, but still—

  • DrForbidden

I just bought a Borderlands 2 Season Pass from Amazon for USD10… :)

  • MosquitoLemon

I finished my third year in Meruru and took a break because I got really busy. I want to get the Sengoku Basara triple pack like crazy, but I’ve been spending way too much money lately, hhahah.

I finished my third year in Meruru and took a break because I got really busy. I want to get the Sengoku Basara triple pack like crazy, but I’ve been spending way too much money lately, hhahah.

    • Eclipse

      Haha, same here!

I’ve spent far too much money during Feb & Mar in games. >_<

Oh, and AmiAmi had the Sengoku Basara triple pack for around $59 (Cheapest price on the net), but they're currently sold out. They should restock within a few weeks.

And they sometimes have massive, massive sales on their site. I remember a few months ago that they had the Sengoku Basara HD collection for half-price, so it's good to check each week in case they suddenly list something unexpected on sale.

      • new_tradition

How reliable is AmiAmi for international buyers? I know of them, but I never really wanted something badly enough to import from Japan.

Though I’ve been eyeing SB3 Utage for a while on PlayAsia. “The Best” version is only about 40 bucks with free shipping, but then the triple combo pack came out, so I kind of wanna just get that instead-but I think it’ll come to 95-100 after shipping charges. A little too much to spend in one go for me personally, but better value over-all, so I’ve been indecisive.

        • Eclipse

They’re quite reliable. I’ve been using their site for a little over two-years without any problems. A little while ago they started offering a wider variety of shipping methods, so that’s another nice option.

CDJapan is another great site that I import from that has the Sengoku Basara triple pack for around $80, and that’s the total price with EMS shipping (Just a few dollars more than regular air mail).

I’m not too fond of Play-Asia ever since I learned that they really jack up their prices compared to those other two sites that I mentioned. Their free shipping option is nice, but It sometimes doesn’t outweigh the total price. They’re selling the triple pack for $20 more than CDJapan, and that’s without the shipping cost. >_<

          • new_tradition

Thank you for the response. I’ll give the other places a look then when I got some money to free up ^^

  • DesmaX

Hm… The mobile version of the website keeps opening on my computer.

And it keeps opening the normal version on my phone…

    What can I do?

    • Try clearing your cache on both devices.

      • DesmaX

Nope, still opening the mobile version in my browser

  • sonyntendo

    To those who play WKC2:

the European Playstation Store removed most of the game DLC and probably the American store is next so grab everything ASAP.

  • LordKaiser

I’ll get Ragnarok Odyssey Ace on PS3.

I’m currently playing the Japanese Phantasy Star Online 2 and it’s very entertaining.

  • So, my friend and I have been going back and forth about the ‘Always On’ motto for the Next XBOX. He seems to think this doesn’t mean it will always require an internet connection, even though all of the rumors I have read so far seem to indicate otherwise. He’s been linked to the rumors, the Tweets, anything I got my hands on as it was posted on here, but he refuses to believe or try to understand any of it.

Now that you know how I feel about it, let me just show you a couple of things he has told me in regards to this:

“The next Xbox will not be online-only. The next Xbox will not be
online-only. And in case I didn’t make that clear, the next Xbox will
    not be online-only.

There might have been a time where Microsoft employees had a mere discussion about it (as Sony would also have done the same with the PS4), but in the end it’s not going happen. It’s not going to happen. Screencap this comment so you can look at it again later: The next Xbox will NOT be online-only.”

“I will bet both of you (referring to another friend that agrees with me on my Facebook page) any amount right now that the next Xbox will not require online. Let’s go. Put your money where your mouth is.

There’s no denying that Microsft (at least some of the higher-ups anyway) wants to require online (MANY developers want this actually), but in the end they will not actually go through with it.”

How am I supposed to get through to this guy? It’s like, he simply refuses to believe that Microsoft would be capable of doing such a thing. I don’t have a problem with him thinking the rumors are false. What I have a problem with is him not even considering that Microsoft could, in fact, be capable of doing such a thing like I believe they will do.

So yeah… I can’t even seem to mention the topic any more without him getting in my face, quick to prove me “wrong”, when neither of us are right or wrong at the moment since they are still rumors. Any idea of how I can proceed here?

    • This sounds like a tough one. I’m not sure you can convince your friend otherwise. It sounds like he has moved far past simply discussing it, considering it from various perspectives, or trying to look at it indirectly.

His beliefs on the subject are already at the gamble level.

“I will bet both of you any amount right now that the next Xbox will not require online. Let’s go. Put your money where your mouth is.”

I don’t think you can do much when someone has taken a discussion to this level. It usually doesn’t get to this level until it gets dead serious, does he have some kind of personal stake in all of this?

It’s kinda puzzling to me, refusal on this level is typically only for dead serious conversations, or discussions about religion and politics lol.

I think you made a good point at the end. He seems to be viewing this as a right or wrong discussion. I suppose the first step is to clear that up, and clarify that it’s simply a discussion that is based on rumor. Trying to take things down a few notches might help.

You could ask him exactly what you asked in the post. Why does he think Microsoft is incapable of releasing a console with always online?

He even kinda said it a bit himself. – “There’s no denying that Microsoft (at least some of the higher-ups anyway) wants to require online (MANY developers want this actually), but in the end they will not actually go through with it.”

I think the developer bit is highly debatable by the way, I don’t think I’ve heard many developers say they would really like to create games for hardware that requires constant internet connection.

I think one of the ways the always online rumor makes sense comes down to the next box likely being sold as something more than a simple video game console. I think MS wants the next box to be the only box you have in the living room, etc. They have echoed stuff like this in regards to the Xbox brand in the past.

Let’s also consider that it allows them to try and get more people to pay for live gold, which they already force lots of 360 owners to pay for it right now. MS is already charging people to play games on their console, charging them for just about anything they do online on their console, what’s to stop them from taking that next step?

      • Well, he’s always gotten on my case about liking the PS3 more than the 360. So it probably has something to do with me liking Sony more than Microsoft at this point. He gets the same way when I discuss JP VS NA games too.

I’m a heavy importer (90% of my PS3 library consists of imports), but I guess he just always assumes I’m like, “JAPAN IS ALWAYS RIGHT!” about everything or something, lol. Every time I bring up Japan, he gets defensive. It’s not my fault most of the games I like come from Japan.

I don’t hold his interests against him, so I just wish he would do the same for me. Kind of like this situation. It’s fine if he wants to believe the Next XBOX will be great and none of these rumors are true, but allow me to believe the PS4 will be great too.

  • Elvick

Teen Titans Go depresses me. That is all.

  • The Beautiful Wastelands of The Last of Us. The developers talk about the different environments in The Last of Us.

  • new_tradition

Finally decided to buy Raidou Kuzunoha vs The Soulless Army. Probably the last time a PS2 game will get a reprint, so I didn’t want to take any chances (plus with gift cards it was just shy of 20 bucks after shipping, so yay, lol)

Though I have to admit, while I was thinking about Soul Hackers, I haven’t really been super interested in it as I thought I’d be. Heck, I’m already looking ahead to SMT IV and I’m definitely gonna get right on Soulless Army when it comes in the mail to occupy myself until some of the summer releases.

(also finally used a gift certificate on a SenBasa artbook, so there-I’m now broke in terms of fun stuff xD)
