Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon on top for third week straight.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is the top seller in Japan this week for the third time running. The 3DS sequel moved another 68,000 units for a total of 459,000 overall sales. Animal Crossing: New Leaf follows in second moving another 49,000 units and pushing its overall sales past 3 million in the country.

On the hardware side, 3DS sales continue to move at standard levels, but PS Vita, after a few weeks of strong sales as a result of its Japanese price cut, has moved back down to 19,000 sales this week.

    Dem Vita sales.
Seems it is going well for it xP

  • HeatPhoenix

    Ouch Vita, ouch.

Soul Sacrifice is still selling though, nice, Keiji.

    • Elvick

      SS sells 7k = nice
Vita sells more than double SS = ouch

      Makes sense.

      • HeatPhoenix

Well, for one, the Vita is a CONSOLE. AC and LM are selling more than double of what the 3DS is, why? Because it’s a CONSOLE that existed BEFORE these games were released.

SS has been out for weeks and weeks and is still on the charts regardless of Vita’s shit performance. That’s a job well done.

  • refrain

Some source say Famitsu report said that Vita is now supply constrained in Japan. I don’t know why though.
So maybe It had shortage supply

Sony is preparing for new model ?

Maybe LTE or 4G or Vita 2000….

  • Japan loves Japanese games just a fact.

  • XypherCode

Mario Kart 7 is beginning to lose momentum. Kinda expected considering they already announced a Wii U Mario Kart is in the works.
I’m glad Luigi’s Mansion is doing well in Japan considering it was developed by a western studio.

  • almostautumn

Is that really all for Soul Sacrifice? I’d have thought it’d be far more successful than that?
Also; nice at seeing Muramasa retain itself up here; game deserves it, finally being able to be presented in its fullest and most meaningful now. I always thought that was a very special game; very excited for the western release.

    • Noctis_nox

Add the dual pack and it could be closer to 200K range or even at 200k up already.

      • AdachiTohru

200k is very nice for a new IP like that.

  • Haku_Luvs_You

Ninja Gaiden had a rough release. Wonder if too many people just bought the original 3 and didn’t want to buy it again? And again Animal Crossing is destroying. Any bets to how many more weeks we’ll see it in the top 10, and top 20?

  • Dropped to third, this isn’t a good sign

No games in the top ten :/

  • MrKappa

Lol at Ninja Gaiden 3, those low sales are par for the course. Hayashi’s NG is complete ass and he should ashamed that he didn’t fix the real problems the game had with Razor’s Edge.

  • Kurisu Makise

Soul Sacrifice and One Piece (both platforms) still going steady huh? Not bad, not bad. If Soul Sacrifice can crawl to 250k I’d be pretty happy with that, then follow up with an expansion like Ragnarok did for a cheaper price. Though I am a bit concerned for One Piece, If it was in the 400s it wouldn’t be too bad but…only 367,959…not good. Likewise if the Vita SKU was in the 100k range that’d be pretty worthwhile. For a different change of pace, I wasn’t expecting Luigi to do so well, almost 500k. What did the gamecube game do in comparison?

  • I think one of the reasons the PS Vita has trouble competing with the 3DS is due to the pricing for their memory cards. $60 for 16GB or $100 for 32GB though it should be part of the device to begin with.
