CyberFront shoot 'em up headed overseas, hints publisher.

UFO Interactive is teasing a western localization for CyberFront shoot ’em up Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta! Meikai Katsugeki Wide Version.

The game was initially released in Japan for Xbox 360 in 2009 as Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta!, and added the Meikai Katsugeki Wide Version subtitle for the enhanced PlayStation 3 version in 2011.

UFO posted the following teaser images on Facebook today:

You’ll notice the first image is taken directly from the PlayStation 3 version’s Japanese box art. The second image appears to be a silhouette of the game’s English logo.

Stay tuned. The official announcement shouldn’t be far off.

Anything G.Rev that comes over, the better.

  • Bloodios

    Oh, yes!
The 77MB Japanese demo is still sitting on my HDD. Heck, it’s also part of my backup data. That’s exactly how highly I regard this game. Hehehehe… I remember just hovering over the demo icon and listening to this whole song playing over and over.

    • MosquitoLemon

Is the demo still available? I love me some shmups.

      • Anonymous

I would like to know too

      • Bloodios

I just checked and it doesn’t seem to be available for download anymore, even though I can still download it from my download list…

Well, at least there is an über cute dynamic XMB theme available to download for free.

Wow, man. I did that too; I must have had the demo just sitting dormant on my PS3 for months, just so I could listen to that song. I also lvoed the background image; so bright and colorful!
*Wasn’t too impressed with the demo though, I don’t think. Was hoping more for that action-y “Pocky and Rocky” style, but the game was a bit too stiff for me.

  • ShinAsura(新阿修羅)

    This that shooter?

  • fallen

    The soundtrack! Oh, the soundtrack!

  • ill pick it to support the move to bring more over to the west happly

  • DarthBrian

Oh cool. I believe I downloaded the demo of this off the Japanese PSN. Seemed pretty fun. ^_^

  • Sevyne

    Count me in.

  • Solomon_Kano

Oh really? I’m down for it.

  • The PS3 definitely needs more shmup titles.

    • PrinceHeir

PS3 has bounce back getting tons of VN games last year and this year(whole Steins Gate and Chaos;Head series, Muv-Luv etc)

i just want that Phantom Requiem VN game!!! .__.

also Cave Collection for PS3 please!!!!

would buy that in a heart beat!

    • Elvick

Wish Cave would develop on the PS3 and wish they didn’t can Vita support…

      Hopefully they’ll support PS4.

  • PrinceHeir

im fucking getting this Day 1!!!!

  • zakou

This is one of the games where I would say “It is impossible” that it will be released outside of Japan for the PS3, however I was wrong xD and I’m happy that I was wrong lol.

  • Warboss Aohd

not remotely interested ta be honest.

    • Then leave. Dont comment on articles youre not interested in, only the ones you are

      • HeatPhoenix

Voicing ones opinion should always be encouraged, not discouraged! Even if it’s an opinion you don’t agree with.

  • HeatPhoenix

I’m probably the only guy who prefers shmups with ships, robots and fighters over flying little girls (and boys), yeah?

    • Warboss Aohd

      you are not

    • MosquitoLemon

It sure seems like it, based on everyone I know (OMG TOUHOU BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH). I’m guilty too though, my favorite shmup is Radirgy, which was cell shaded mechs piloted by a girl.

    • fallen

Nah, I do too. I think the moe-fication of shmups was a means to increase sales and stay in business.

To that end, whatever must be done is acceptable to me.

    • I prefer the moe

    • DenjinJ

Nothing wrong with that… I just find it really boring and played-out, like an FPS with space marines. I see very little danmaku with people – Touhou, Deathsmiles… I guess Castle Shikigami and sort of Akai Katana. Mamoru-kun is a different sort of game to me – more a wandering ground-based unidirectional shooter like Guwange.

      • HeatPhoenix

Most if not all SHMUPS on Xbox 360 are human characters.

    • HeatPhoenix

as a sidenote, I like R-Type 3, Kamui and Samidare.

  • uhawww

There are better shmups out there, but Mamorukun is pretty fun. The scoring system is kind of weird, and the stages are very short, but I give it a pass since it focuses on score attacking and leaderboards. Doubt there will be much in the way of alterations, but they kind of need to fix some of the scrolling in Widescreen mode from the import..

  • new_tradition

Whoa, I did NOT see this coming at all O_O

At least there’s cute boys along with girls, so I might check it out, lol
