Free-to-play FPS and story-driven dinosaur game set for next-gen.

Blacklight: Retribution and Primal Carnage: Genesis are coming to PlayStation 4, Sony has announced at its Game Developers Conference independent games event, PlayStation Indie Game Arcade.

A sequel to Blacklight: Tango Down, which launched on PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade, and PC in 2010, Blacklight: Retribution is a futuristic free-to-play first-person shooter with over one million players on PC. Developer Zombie Studios aims to bring “a new experience” and “further evolution” of the shooter to PlayStation 4.

And different from last year’s Primal Carnage on PC, which was a class-based multiplayer game, Primal Carnage: Genesis on PlayStation 4 is an Unreal Engine 4-powered, “story driven, episodic single player adventure” set in a world where dinosaurs have been brought back to life. Developer Lukewarm Media “aims to resurrect the immersive dinosaur first-person experience that people have been waiting for.”

Sony has said it recently “enhanced” the services available to third-party publishers and developers with a new “streamlined and faster” Global Product Proposal process for submitting games, which means Sony “can offer more resources and support to publishers and developers than ever before.” Developers can find out more here.

Free 2 Play needs to go big next gen.

Sony’s got the means to get the ball rolling on it. SOE is sitting on Planetside 2, which could be big for consoles. They’ve also got Everquest cooking, and that’s likely to be FTP. They get it started, and I’m sure we’d see more FTP games hit the system.

I hope so, maybe we’ll see stuff at E3 2013.

Hopefully. The PS3 and Vita are getting an upsurge of indie content, so FTP is the next field for them to start reaching into. Let’s see if they make it happen.

    Tribes: Ascend too, please

    Or maybe not

OMG it’s the Jurassic Park game I’ve always wanted… hopefully!

I’m hoping Blacklight makes it in time for launch. It’d be nice to have a free game waiting for me when I return with my PS4, in addition to whatever launch title I pick up.

SONY! Now that you’ve opened this can of worms, you know what you must do! Planetside 2 on PS4! Please! You got DCUO on PS3, now make Planetside 2 happen on PS4!

I’m hoping that Dinosaur game doesn’t disappoint, because I really want to play a Dinosaur related game. There are so few these days. D: Dern zombies, hogging the spotlight.

Yes, Unreal Engine 4. There is already a Primal Carnage on PC using UE3.

Blacklight is already released on PC.

i respect what Zombie Studios stance on how they decided to published it themselves on PSN.
