"There's more mystery in that man that even I dare ask."

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag just can’t catch a break. GamesRadar’s YouTube channel has (likely accidently) published the debut CG trailer for the sequel ahead of its Monday release. Watch it below. Or grab a download here (right click, save as), in case it’s taken down.

Update: The video’s been removed from YouTube, but the download is still active. We’ve added a new stream below.

Ye come seeking adventure and salty old pirates, aye? Sure you’ve come
to the proper place. But keep a weather eye open, mates – and hold on
tight, with both hands, if you please! There be squalls ahead, and Davy
Jones waiting for them what don’t obey! heh heh heh…

oh wait, that’s a different Pirates thing. :p

private video. thx for direct download

  • I love Edward’s look. Seems distinct from Ezio, Desmond, etc.

  • DarthBrian

lol. IGN was supposed to have the exclusive on this on monday. Someone screwed up. :p

  • That was a pretty good trailer. I think I’m going to like Edward as a main character.

  • Nice CG trailer. I still think, Ubisoft shouldn’t have given it the IV title.

    • hObO4297

Yeh I agree with that its too soon after 3 to release IV.

  • Paul Talada

God I hope this is like a 3rd person far cry.

  • DichaTesoro
  • Seems quite cool, though I worry that Edward will be a scumbag pirate (not that most pirates aren’t), in which case I won’t like him. Oh the other hand, he could be a noble renegade, which would be awesome!

Altair is still best Assassin. Followed by Connor. Ezio gets better as he ages, though.

    • Guest

Mind, it’s very possible he’s not. The trailer doesn’t give us a lot to go on! Can’t tell what is going on in the questionable scenes.

A heroic renegade pirate sounds amazing, so I’m hoping that’s the case.

No disrespect to people in love with the series, but as an outsider looking in, I’m just seeing too many games and it’s not very inviting.

From watching AC3 to this, it just looks like they changed the background and repainted some flags.

Welcome to the world of Assassin’s Creed!

    • Skerj

You have to start playing the games to actually get into them. Their main draw is the storyline and that’s something that they won’t actually show you in the trailers since most of the time there’s some surprise hook (hehe) involved with it. This is also why I keep coming back year after year and will do so until either: A) the story is complete, or B) they piss me off. Ahh what am I saying, I’ll come back even if they do piss me off, I watch Dexter after all.

    • Mmm, that’s a bit unfair, actually. Different entries in the series have different teams (with some common leadership dictating the plot and certain consistencies in design), so you’ll find unique gameplay aspects to each entry. Furthermore, story is a very big aspect of the series, and that changes pretty dramatically from game to game. This looks to be no different.

This also has the unique premise of running a pirate vessel and sailing from island to island. Exploring and interacting with this world should be decidedly different from previous entries.

It’s also a new Assassin, so you can expect a new fighting style.

    • Ace

I’ve played Ass Creed 1-3 and you hit it right on the dot.

  • Lee

I’m really interested where in history was this set. Based on the presence of Blackbeard though, it looks like it’s in the 1700’s — around the same time as Connor, it seems.

    • Solomon_Kano

The protagonist is the father of a character in AC3. So a bit before Connor.

    • Just look for the Final Fantsy series. They are all numbered, but still have a little, or no connections at all.

  • LordKaiser

Just as I posted about it on the other forum and i was wrong lol.

  • Can’t they change the damn hood and general outfit design ? seriously I am so done with this look..its frustrating to look at..way too repititive and doesn’t fit the theme…make him dress more piraty at least and NO HOOOOOOOOD.

    • It’s pretty iconic for the series… And super cool looking.

ACIII Liberation provides the only real deviation from this look.

      • sorry I would rather see his awesome face…or atleast make it differ significantly from this wornout attire…

      • And even then, you could still use a hood if you wanted.

  • Skerj

Kinda conflicted on this one, brand new protagonist but the period is only slightly before AC3 so the numbered release is questionable. Then there are some story related things that I won’t get into because we don’t have spoiler tags here.

  • Aldridge517

I love how info about a pirate game is being leaked. Can’t keep it under wraps till Monday Lol

  • there’s a trailer up on youtube!

    • Gonna leave my DailyMotion one up. YT trailers are more likely to be removed a lot faster.

      • well it’s still up though
So i don’t think ubisoft is taking it off

  • PrinceHeir

yikes they should take a break tbh.

also where is Prince of Persia 2008 sequel!!!!

5 years still no word yet O__O

    • KingNigma

Funny you say that. I just beat that game today.

    • Solomon_Kano

Not getting a sequel. Ubisoft said they’re giving the Prince of Persia IP a rest until they decide what to do with it. A pity since I liked the 08 game, but there’s a lot of potential for a new take.

    • Rezar

I would rather see a new Prince of Persia game instead of Assassins Creed yearly. If Ubisoft was smart they would release Prince of Persia one year then Assassins Creed the next year.

    • I should get back to playing that… got stuck on some puzzle.

  • Prodigy-X

Yall can keep whining all you want about the series being milk but as long as the story still entertains me and they keep choosing different locations I think I’ll keep buying Assassin’s Creed games. Can’t wait to buy this on PS4 & PS3 this holiday.

  • Wow i like him more then connor :D

  • Gigus

I’m a little bit excited about this but its starting to wear thin on me. What is it in the past that will save human civilization this time from the new threat that awaits our new heroes? I really hope combat will be a little more challenging in this new entry.

  • AdverseSolution

I still think this should be the side story.

  • Zuhri69

This it not a complain. While I myself am excited for this, its quite hard for me to find how will this game combine both the pirate and swashbuckling aspect with that of an assassin creed’s theme? Its quite hard for me to see it. Maybe cos it’s still new. Well, looking forward to it.

  • I was sceptical at first you know with the whole Pirate-Assassins business, but after seeing the leaked trailer, I must admit, it looks like I’m going to like Edward very much :) The trailer for some reason reminded me of the AC2 trailer, not sure why though… It might be to do with the ending with him killing the guy and stealing his women gurarara

    • I also hope he’s a womanising, drunk jackass :) would be your typical Pirate right? Would be a change to have some humour in an AC game.
