APB Vendetta, a multiplayer action arena FPS and “companion title” to the online game APB Reloaded, is in development for PC with “long range plans” for a PlayStation 4 version, Reloaded Productions has announced.
The game combines ‘fast-paced modern FPS gameplay’ with parkour-like movement, a “deep community,” and a mod-sharing system.
It will offer “asymmetric dual-wielding, slow-motion, melee combat, and a combo system that encourages players to perform stylish takedowns utilizing character-specific finishing moves.” Twelve characters will be available to play. Players will be able to rack up bonus points by sliding, diving, wall-running, and performing other parkour-like movements.
In contrast to APB Reloaded, a free-to-play MMO, APB Vendetta is a “pay once game that delivers the player all the content upfront,” and offers the tools to create “entire game mods” to be shared with others through the Vendetta Community System.
Development on the PlayStation 4 version depends on several factors. Mainly, whether or not Reloaded Productions meets their stretch goal on Kickstarter.
“As an approved PS4 development studio our ambition is to create a future PS4 digital version of the game and give that to all those who have supported APB Vendetta at the higher level pledges,” said Reloaded Productions.
“However there are several unknowns; first Epic has yet to decide if they will officially support PS4 with Unreal3. If not, a Vendetta PS4 digital version may require an engine change. But presuming UE3 becomes an officially supported engine for PS4, then further support above the stretch goals will go toward expanding the platforms for the game.”
Reloaded is seeking $300,000 on Kickstarter to develop the PC version of APB Vendetta. If the stretch goal of $750,000 is reached, Reloaded will create a tool to export characters from APB Reloaded to APB Vendetta. If $1,000,000 is reached, the studio will create a dedicated UI system for advanced modding tools. The stretch goal amount for the PlayStation 4 version is still to be announced.
