Yakzua producer hopes to show "something" this year.

Yakuza series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi teased the next Yakuza title in this week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation.

According to Nagoshi, the team is taking a programmatic approach with the next title so that players can have a more physical experience.

Regarding the battle system, the team aims to reach new innovations.

About the next game in general, they want to offer a broadened form of play.

Don’t expect to see the next Yakuza title on PlayStation 3, though. Nagoshi said he thinks Yakuza 5 will be the last entry in the series part of PlayStation 3’s generation.

But rest assured the studio will continue developing with the the intent to make things the best they an under the circumstances.

Nagoshi hopes to show the next “something” sometime this year.

Thanks, Game Nyarth.

    First give us 5 >:(

Yakuza 6 for PS4? I’m glad to see Nagoshi looking forward already. I’ll be interested in seeing what he can do with the PS4’s increased capabilities.

How about telling us if Yakuza 5 will be released in the us/eu.

  • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

That has got to be some of the best hair I have ever seen in a game D:

    • zakou

The fashion style in Yakuza games is beyond epic :D

      • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

I was just talking about the texture work and shaders, they are Fantastic!

  • Bloodios

Why being so anxious about Yakuza 5’s localization? Most of the main entries never saw their respective localized versions for at least a year and it’s only been TWO months since the game was released in Japan.

    • zakou

You do have a good point but some of us that keep asking are really true fans of Yakuza games, we are only showing the passion for the games.

And yes we can’t wait that’ss why we keep on asking, the more we as, the more motivation for the games to come sooner or just “come” here outside of Japan.

      • Bloodios

I personally think it would be better to sit back and relax though. This is SEGA we’re talking about here, so I don’t think they’ve gone cuckoos enough to not localize a Yakuza entry, but at the same time, but at the same time, I don’t think they’re the type to localize games early for the fans’ sake. I think it’s more plausible to expect a delay if anything, really (I’m still bitter about Anarchy Reigns. Perhaps this is closest to how Wii U owners feel about Rayman Legends’ delay…)

    • Elvick

Because people like confirmation early, so we can stop the “is it or isn’t it” game and just be excited for the game to come out in our countries.

I want 5 and the HD Collection.

      • Bloodios

Have you tried asking the folks at SEGA about the localization process? Got any good response out of it, or are they just beating around the bushes?

  • Eclipse

Interesting. I haven’t even started Yakuza 5 yet, so I at least have that to keep me busy till the next one. I’m guessing there’s a good chance that this one could end up on the PS4?

From what I’ve seen of Yakuza 5, it’s one of the most (If not the most) impressive looking games I’ve seen on the current consoles, so it’ll be very exciting to see what Nagoshi will be capable of doing with the PS4.

    • Bloodios

Hmm… I’m seeing a more extensive idol rearing being incorporated in the game’s core…

      • Eclipse

Lol, that sounds good to me!
However, I can definitely see that pissing off a lot of fans. XD

  • Pyrofrost

I went ahead and imported 5 a couple weeks ago and I will be looking forward to this one.

  • PS4confirmed!:D can’t wait and looking forward to Yakuza5 in Europe:3

Microsoft mulled Sega buyout before deciding company “didn’t have enough muscle to stop Sony” .. An article i read 2 days ago ..

Glad it never happen . if it did happen, they just killing Yakuza franchise like they did to Banjo-Kazooie

  • Prodigy-X

What the fuck is this? I want my Yakuza 5 localization damn it.

    • I think we all do. We just have to wait and hope Sega (In NA or EU) announces something soon.

  • Charlie

I thought I was the only one that noticed how realistic the hair looks in these games.

  • Raiyu

Please give us Yakuza HD and 6 Sega, even if its a PSN release I’ll take that over nothing.

  • rockman29

Kind of worried they are refreshing Yakuza TOO much.

I own all four of the main games, and they are GREAT games, but they are also formulaic.

I do love that formula, but I need a break from the franchise I think. I’m not sure I’m gonna get 5 yet if it comes stateside.

  • If its not being localised I don’t really care :( Just like rubbing salt in a wound.

“According to Nagoshi, the team is taking a programmatic approach with the next title so that players can have a more physical experience.”

Is programmatic a word? If so, what does it mean? If not, did you mean pragmatic, Sal?

Also, fantastic news. Always willing to support innovation, especially if its about the games combat :3

  • KurisuMakise

Next Yakuza on PS4, alright I’m interested…well, after I finish 4 (and pray for 5’s localization).

  • Kiryu

I urge everybody to bomb Sega with requests.

  • Fredrik

The Yakuza series is my favorite gaming series this console generation, would love to see 5 released in US/EU.
