When FFX was shown he said “and more” lol xD “FFX HD confirmed for both 360 and PS3”

    • TimesTicking

I don’t remember FFX HD being confirmed on the PS3 or 360.
Last I remember it said that it was being released on Vita only?

      • MosquitoLemon

Originally they said PS3, then it was extended to include the Vita. Of course they’ve given us little reason to believe anything that isn’t about XIII.

      • zakou

Wow people can’t even take a joke these days.

    • That’s stupid.

      • zakou

Well i was kidding obviously geez. see the “lol” and the “xD” in the text?

  • Where is Kingdom Hearts? ;_;

    • MosquitoLemon

Or the 200 other games that made that system amazing. I’d probably have never got another system if the laser were more reliable.

    • Tons of games weren’t included, including many by Sony themselves. They clearly wanted to keep the videos short and sweet.

I mean, they didn’t even mention the PS2 lasting until recently.

  • Prodigy-X

I remember the PS2 days. Those were the golden days when Sony constantly kept releasing games like crazy and when platformers still exists. Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, Dark Cloud, Killzone 1, Gran Turismo, Persona, Twisted Metal, Kingdom Hearts, FF X & more. My favorite franchise on the PS2 was Jak & Daxter.

    • Yeah, I mean they’ve released nothing this gen at all!

    • Rezar

Other than the big names the PS2 also has a lot hidden gems especially if you are into JRPGs and unique Capcom games.

  • Guest

no Tomba or Medival? i am disappoint.

  • Sevyne

Oh PS2; A console unmatched. A library and variety of games other consoles should be jealous of. You will forever be my #1.

    • DrForbidden

This. I bought another PS2 a month ago, since they are no longer in production. Had forgotten how much I loved the Shadow Hearts series…

      • Sevyne

I had bought a new PS2 a few months back myself. I still had a bunch of my old games and boy did I miss them. Now I’m back to building my complete collection again. Thank god there’s a Play n Trade near me. That place is like my home away from home for hard to find games.

        • DrForbidden

          You’re lucky…

I had to rely on e-bay, which is full of scalpers… T_T

    • zakou

The only more perfect than PS2 games is the fact that the PS2 can play all PS1 games = Beyond perfect xD PS1+PS2 libary = God of gaming.

  • ShinAsura

Who remembers the disc swap trick? I think it was for playing imports

    • Budgiecat

For PS1 yeah…use the spring and a piece of tape (or get it chipped)

For PS2 it was Swap Magic or a chip…

For Gamecube it was a disc

For Sega Saturn it was a Cartridge

For N64, SNES & Genesis it was an adapter

for 3DO and Dreamcast… was nothing!

    • shogunknight

I broke some cds doing that trick at first on the PS1 (almost started buying 2 copies of a game), until i became a master

    • MosquitoLemon

Yeah, there was one chip that required disk swap. My friend’s 3rd PS2 melted quite soon after that… He did get to play Kingdom Hearts a day early though, lol.

  • Bloodios

I thought it was going to be:
    “The Beginning” (PS1) >>> “The Prosperity” (PS2) >>> “The Struggle” (PS3) >>> “The Recovery” (PS4)

    • MrRobbyM

I know Sony has it in them to be great, they just really slipped up at the beginning for the PS3.

      • drproton

I’m glad I didn’t buy a PS3 at launch, but I’m also glad I bought one used for a reasonable price at the beginning of 2009. I think it’s pretty remarkable that despite their initial failure they ended up neck and neck with the 360 at the end of this gen, all the while building up their first party studios.

        • MrRobbyM

I wouldn’t say neck and neck, but pretty close. Some games did better on PS3, some didn’t. Though I’m glad that the audience for both sides seems to be mostly divided making future consoles easier to plan for, generally speaking. Even though I don’t care for most of Sony’s first party games, they did do a great job of building them up.

    • Mar Mar

I still have both my NTSC and PAL PS2 .. that’s about more than 10 years and still in good condition. Those days you didn’t have to worry about overheating, trophies, backups, etc.

  • EspadaKiller

To this date the most successful console. Totally love the PS2!

  • FF being part of the PS success moved me :) Hopefully we can expect this to happen again with the PS4 in full force.

  • Too bad my fat PS2 died on me… :(

I must have push that thing too hard on my gaming spree when it was still alive…

    • MrRobbyM

My cousins PS2 phat just recent died too and he got it at launch. Damn that thing lasted forever and a decade. My ps2 is still goin strong and hasn’t had any problems since.

      • Funny, my psp1000 is alive and kicking still to this day… 6 years in fact…

    • MosquitoLemon

I thought mine died, but it turns out the laser is just weak. I can still get mine to boot about 40% of the time… My only problem now is that my friend lost my brand-new PS2 controller and never bothered trying to find it! I haven’t been able to find another one…

  • NCloud

The PS2 had it all, great western and eastern games :) I hope Sony release PS2 games for the Vita too.

  • I got started on NES but PS1 will always be the console most special to me with PS2 not far behind. I remember back in 2001 I was supposed to get it for xmas, I bought 3 games before I even had the console (MGS2, DOA2, Ico)

  • Budgiecat

PS4 better not be region locked….

    • Vita isn’t so I don’t see why they’d start now.

Either way, it better not be indeed.

  • PrinceHeir

can anyone tell me what game is when the girl did a flying kick when the enemy was carrying something at 0:26?!??

PS2 is definitely my favorite console of ALL time!!!!!!!

love all of these games, i definitely need to go back and play Digital Devil Saga 2.

    • MosquitoLemon

Most definitely The Bouncer. The text up in the corner says ‘Square/Dream Factory”, plus most of the games they showed were early early PS2 titles.

edit – I bought DDS2 hoping it would be worth money some day, haahah. I tried playing it, but only got about 20+ hours in before getting destroyed.

edit2 – and my god, if games like that interest you, and you still haven’t played Urban Reign, GO PLAY URBAN REIGN. No joke, it’s like the best Dream Factory game, except completely polished and not made by Dream Factory, lol.

      • PrinceHeir

        thanks :D

i knew it was kinda like Bouncer :D

well i do have some cheats(but i didn’t use any infinite health or like that)

i only have all/infinite items/weapons(but the rings are missing for some reason)

that way i can lessen the grinding and all.

but i leveling up the macca can be a pain in the ass.

i can just sell the best rare item from the store to get some money and buy more skills.

yeah you mention Urban Reign back then, definitely getting that along with Yakuza HD Collection, and Beat Down Fists of Vengeance.

wish we had more 3D beat’em up games :(

we only have Fist of the North Star Ken’s Rage 2(which i fucking love), Anarchy Reigns, and Asura’s Wrath.

speaking of 3D beat’em ups, i might need to play God Hand again sometime!!!

        • MosquitoLemon

Asura’s Wrath is a far cry from a beat em up… I would love to get Ken’s Rage, but there is no way on earth I’m paying $60 for a download-only game. Sony USA blows

          • PrinceHeir

looks fun though aside from riddle with tons of QTE.

well i bought it since the DLC costumes are already included.

but yeah the pricing for a digital is bullshit, i craved in since i badly wanted to play Kenshiro!!!!

            • MosquitoLemon

I know, I bought DmC full price because I needed my crazy stylish action fix.

Oh yeah, even though it’s more than just a 3D beat em up, I think the Yakuza series counts. Yakuza 4 + 5 is def. one of the main reasons to get a PS3 over 360.

              • PrinceHeir

same thing with Ken’s Rage 2.

                wanted a beat’em up fix :)

yeah Yakuza is also a beat’em up type with more emphasis on story line as well as tons of mini games.

                can’t wait for Yakuza 5!!!

speaking of stylish action fix, are you getting Metal Gear Rising?

already have mine on pre order so i await for that!

  • shogunknight

Wonder how they will talk about the PS3, “had a struggling start but was a very good console in the end” pretty much sums it up

  • Raiyu

    I missed out on the PS2 :(

I blame my uncle cause he’s a xbox fanboy.

  • These were glory days. The best period of GAMING. Long live PS2. Sad that only degradation came after for the most part.

  • new_tradition

Love my PS2 and the games for it. It’s why I searched for a BC PS3 model so hard ’cause I knew I’d still be playing my PS2 games even now. Majority of my games are PS2 games to boot <3

  • Charlie

The PS2 earns it’s spot as the greatest console ever conceived.

  • I finally got around to watching the first two videos. They certainly bring back some very fond memories. Both of these consoles helped me make it through tough times in my life, when I was younger and unprepared to deal with some of the hardships life put in my path.
