Rumor: Microsoft to announce EA deal at Next Xbox event

The exact scope of this partnership, however, is currently not known.

Microsoft will announce an exclusivity deal with Electronic Arts at its rumored next-gen Xbox reveal event in April, according to multiple CVG sources.

Neither source, however, knew the terms of the partnership.

CVG speculates that, due to the necessities of multiplatform development and publishing, the deal in question could be regarding exclusive downloadable content or earlier release dates. Perhaps something related to Battlefield 4 or Respawn Entertainment’s shooter?

Yep, figured as much since they didnt show up in Sonys presentation. Problem for them is if the contract would be timed exclusivity. I wonder which other company would show up with EA apart from their own

  • Timed Exclusivity sucks… oh well, EA? I’m ok with that… my last EA Game was Dante’s Inferno anyway

    • Dante inferno was a worst game ever, everything talk about illuminati.

        • Just smile, nod and back away slowly.

      • shogunknight

I think that was the least of the problems it had

  • oh really nice, i hope they will not regret in the end. :)

  • I was expecting Activision with CoD… But it’s close…

This’ll be weird, as EA and Ubi have essentially been pro-Sony the entirety of this generation.

My bet would be on the Respawn guys, no better way to stick it to Activision than having Respawn’s map packs launch earlier on the same system as the CoD map packs.

In terms of consoles, Battlefield has been very PS3-centric this generation (though obviously PC is where the main love for BF3 was), so I highly doubt EA would do a 180 with that franchise out of the blue, especially with BF4 having a current-gen beta (ie. it may not even be a PS4/720 title to begin with).

Sony gets exclusive content from Activision’s Destiny, so MS goes after EA too (too because EA’s been with Sony this gen)? I wonder why they didn’t just continue getting their early COD maps. Not enough?

Whatever. I hope this for Madden or something else I don’t care about. If it’s just DLC anyway though, I don’t care.

How much m$ pay you EA ?

  • MrRobbyM

EA? At least it’s not something worth caring about.

    *runs away*

  • As long as it’s nothing to do with Mirror’s Edge, but I doubt MS would bother paying for that.

Even if they did, I expect this to be useless timed exclusives like MS always wastes money on.

  • rockman29

Exclusivity with Respawn or Battlefield I bet.

  • Dean Winchester

    LoL MS.
Desperate times call for desperate rumors!

Grand scheme: MS still has no games.

    • Great and another Generation of annoying COD fans who never STFU.
More Kinect based Shit, and Xbox LIVE charging for Online. This is why I moved back to PS3 was cause of Kinect, and my 360 dying in the Process.

      • Dean Winchester

Not for me. The live chums cant bother me with their prepubescent voices if I never buy the nextbox.

As far as my gaming is concerned MS wont even exist next gen. Much like all their original exclusive IP and hardware dependability this gen ;)

  • RedWolfe

    This is getting interesting…

  • EA has nothing that interest me. I don’t care for FPS games and Dead Space 3 didn’t really catch my eye.

With the announcement that all future EA games will have micro-transactions, maybe the EA/Microsoft announcement will be the next Xbox will have an exclusive credit card slot so you can instantly pay for their random crap.

maybe EA new IP for Kinect
