Tecmo Koei and Team Ninja have confirmed Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America and Europe following the game’s Japanese announcement. It will launch both at retail and digitally on April 2 in North America and on April 5 in Europe.
The game, compared to the original Ninja Gaiden 3, features additional playable characters, a new gameplay mode, a redesigned battle system with enhanced enemy AI, a Ninja Skills upgrade system, new online features with bonus content, and “a host” of other features.
Chapter Challenge mode, where players compete for the highest score possible in each chapter of the story, will be available with ten new chapters, including all-new stages for Ayane. Players can also play as Kasumi, Ayane, and Momiji in both Chapter Challenge mode and Ninja Trials co-op play, with multiple costume options. The number of Ninja Trials missions have also been tripled to 100.
Six new weapons, including the new Jinran-Maru & Blade of the Archfiend dual swords, Lunar Staff, Kusari-gama, Inferno, Wind Blades, and Piercing Void have been added. In the new “Tests of Valor” challenge, players who find Crystal Skulls hidden in each level will be transported to battle familiar bosses from the Ninja Gaiden series.
All previously released download content for the original Ninja Gaiden 3 will be included, as well.
