New costumes on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Tecmo Koei and Team Ninja have confirmed Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America and Europe following the game’s Japanese announcement. It will launch both at retail and digitally on April 2 in North America and on April 5 in Europe.

The game, compared to the original Ninja Gaiden 3, features additional playable characters, a new gameplay mode, a redesigned battle system with enhanced enemy AI, a Ninja Skills upgrade system, new online features with bonus content, and “a host” of other features.

Chapter Challenge mode, where players compete for the highest score possible in each chapter of the story, will be available with ten new chapters, including all-new stages for Ayane. Players can also play as Kasumi, Ayane, and Momiji in both Chapter Challenge mode and Ninja Trials co-op play, with multiple costume options. The number of Ninja Trials missions have also been tripled to 100.

Six new weapons, including the new Jinran-Maru & Blade of the Archfiend dual swords, Lunar Staff, Kusari-gama, Inferno, Wind Blades, and Piercing Void have been added. In the new “Tests of Valor” challenge, players who find Crystal Skulls hidden in each level will be transported to battle familiar bosses from the Ninja Gaiden series.

All previously released download content for the original Ninja Gaiden 3 will be included, as well.

Yayyyy!!!!! ^^ Good to hear this news!

  • Pyrofrost

I can honestly say that I am happy to have been wrong about this!

  • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Fuck yea! Can’t decide whether to wait for the inevitable Vita version or not. Will probably double dip for both the PS3 and Vita versions as I’m such a sucker for Ayane. Hopeless I. ( ̄▽ ̄)

    • KurisuMakise

You and me Ro, similar wave-lengths. I got back into console gaming too late, I spent the gen on DS/PSP and returned to console gaming early last year by playing my back catalog xD Now all these good releases are coming plus new consoles =( Oh well I might as well prepare to double dip. Tecmo Koei’s got a good hold on my wallet this year.

      • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

I can see why, they usually deliver.
Well, I got into serious console gaming in December 2009 when I unwrapped my PS3, before that it was mainly GB and N64 for me.

    Loving Kasumi’s outfit!

  • NCloud

The new costumes look pretty nice :)

  • Potionzmaster

    Dat costume.
Now gimme that trilogy collection :3

Team ninja can go screw emself after they released NG3,I bought the game at retail price, way to much QTE and irrititating sequences,1ninpo,are you kidding me???

1sword to play with, excluded the dlc,no upgrading weapons,no essence,no UT and the crystal skulls have already been done in NGS2,and you have to pay for MN mode, the start screen is all messed up.

and im not paying full price for a game I already played, its gone nearly a year since the release, everything in NG3 is dumbed down, its a crap game.
and I dare you to say otherwise.

    • Pyrofrost

So you’re bitching because they fixed the game? AWESOME!

      • Elvick

Um, if I had bought NG3 vanilla I’d be pretty unhappy too.

They should make the game right the first time. I mean, that’s why you release a game. Because it’s done and the best it can be… in theory.

With Team Ninja though, they just kind of release whatever. Then fix it later and charge people again for it. Which actually is something people should complain about.

Because they should get it right the first time, or not release the game. Granted, consumers should know Team Ninja does this. So they should just wait for the 3rd+ version of NG to buy it.

        • Pyrofrost

So they were wrong for trying new things, then listening to complaints and making adjustments accordingly?

I can understand being angry if a dev released some glitched out, broken piece of garbage. However, I don’t fault a dev for wanting to try new things. So what exactly does doing things right the first time even mean in this context?

I swear, the majority of the gamer community today is so damn fickle.
Gamers bitch about wanting things different; and when devs do stuff different, they bitch because it’s not the same.
Then you have gamers bitching about wanting things to stay the same or go back to the days of yore; and when devs do that, they bitch because the devs aren’t doing new things.

          • Elvick

None of that makes sense. Patches are meant to adjust a game. Not a new version of a game. It’s 2013. Not 1990.

If the problems are so deep in your game that you *HAVE* to financially re-release the game. Then call it a day and use the fan’s complaints to improve your NEXT GAME. Not the same game that is already ruined and that everyone already bought.

            Just move on.

They aren’t doing consumers that bought the original a favor by re-releasing a fixed product for people to BUY AGAIN. You’re ridiculous.

            • Pyrofrost

Patches aren’t made to completely change the developmental parts of a game. One of the biggest complains about the game was the QTEs, a simple patch isn’t going to fix that.

Also, re-releasing “improved” versions is something devs do all the time. Team Ninja isn’t the only one guilty of doing this. If I’m so ridiculous…then why do devs keep doing this and why do gamers keep buying?
I’m not even going to bother asking whether or not you’ve ever bought an “improved” re-release before, after having bought an earlier version of a game.

              • DrForbidden

That’s a fair enough stance, but the problem with KT is that, at this point in time, re-releases appear not so much as fixed versions rather than pre-planned alternate editions for the purpose of double-dipping. They’ve been doing this so often it becomes difficult to defend them.

                • Pyrofrost

That’s fair enough as well. I also see how one could get that impression too. Especially with the way DW7XL was handled.

              • Elvick

I already said that if the work involved is more than a patch, then they should move on to the next game.

Way to ignore that. But hey it makes your argument better to completely ignore mine. /sarcasm

                • Pyrofrost

                  I apologize Elvick.

Honestly, I really can’t say for sure why companies do this sort of thing. Ignoring the NGS games, because those were just made to put it on the Sony platform and the first versions of 1 and 2 are fine. I can only think of one possible explanation for their actions with NG3; pride and trying to save some face with a series that has been stellar up this point. While many NG fans will still be pissed, many (even people who bought the first version) will be willing to take this improved version and forgive.

Again, I apologize for not addressing that point earlier. So I hope you will forgive and not hold it against me.

      • anders gjerløw

no,im not bitching that they fixed the game, thats good for people that are looking forward to this game, but what I am bitching about that this should have been from the getgo and not 1year later

NGS2 have the kusari-gama and lunar staff which I find really awesome,my most beloved weapon in NGS1 is the lunar, and they didnt even have that in nr2,nor in start of ng3.

and the fact that I have already finished this game and I bought for retail price and they wanna charge the game again is beyond me and im really pissed, its not as good as n1 where you need to block to survive, hell if your not blocking in ngs1 your dead,in ng3 I didnt even EVER need to block, its just a mindless buttonmasher.

I cant write 5000words on this game how it is how it is compared to NGS1,nGS2 and how the gameplay is and how its dumbed to a noobish lvl.

and dont even get my started on QTE for this game, its one of the worst. In NGS1 we jump roll in ng3 we slide roll, what ninja or people want NOT to roll.its a crap game.

and I can care less that you can play as momiji, ayane and kasumi, they should have had this from the getgo,in the end of ngs2 you can clearly see that they teased us that katsuni is a playable character in ng3,but it didnt happen, only 1year after the release.

im bitching about ng3 because I have the right to do so,I have played all 3 ng games on ps3,and why didnt they add all this at release???huh tell me that!!!!

  • Bloodios

Doubting be damned! Here it is! Yes!
That said, I am still not particularly thrilled about Ayane being “de-aged” and the reduction of Mizuki’s bust size… Well, at least the goods far out-weighted the bads.

    • DrForbidden

Wait, how can you tell about Mizuki? Isn’t she always covered up in thick clothes or heavy armour?

      • Bloodios

Let’s just say that sometimes, I find myself intensely concentrating on the wrong things… so yeah, I kinda noticed the slight reduction in one scene… so maybe it’s a glitch?

    • PrinceHeir

i don’t think they reduced her size :P

      Sauce please!

      • Bloodios

        Vanilla (PS3):
        Razor’s Edge:

        Might be a glitch though…

        • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

It’s not a glitch. Mizuki’s bust size was reduced in RE indeed ;)

        • PrinceHeir

          are you freaking serious O____O

          what the hell Team Ninja!?!?!?!?!

slightly disappointed, and it’s not even that big to begin with.

oh well, either size is fits her, but big is better for me :P

  • I feel so sorry for anyone who bought NG3 or any of that overpriced DLC…

  • I feel sorry for those who bought the original…. TK should at least give a discount for them….

  • DrForbidden

I think Ayane got the short end of the New Costume stick. Her Army outfit just looks skanky, while Kasumi’s Navy dress is kinda cute and Momiji’s Air Force dress is sexy. For Ryu, I’ll probably have him running around shirtless most of the time. That would certainly explain Irene’s obssession with him… ;P

  • PrinceHeir

    soo fucking sexy!!!!!!!!!

glad it’s coming to the PS3/360.

but after being burned out by the original(paid $60 Day 1)

i’ll wait for price drop despite wanting ths!!!

    Kasumi Rocks!!!!

    Ayane soo awesome!

and Momiji is hot as hell!!!!!

    so no Rachael?

she did kinda felt out of place in the series.

still wish Momiji was the wife of Ryu instead of Sonia/Irene Law(no offense)

they are a perfect couple :P
