Developer now known as 1-UP Studio.

Mother 3 and Fantasy Life developer Brownie Brown has changed its name to 1-UP Studio, it has announced.

The studio, established in 2000, is a Nintendo subsidiary and has co-developed games like Super Mario 3D Land. In order for the company to better focus on the titles they’re developing in cooperation with Nintendo, a change in structure has been decided. Due to this change, Brownie Brown has changed its name to 1-UP Studio, and the company will restart.

On March 31, the official website for Brownie Brown will be taken offline.

We’d better get Fantasy Life in the west. :/

I like Brownie Brown more, and it’s not because my last name is Brown either.

    • I agree. Brownie Brown was more of a “we make fun games and eat a lot of chocolate” kind of name. And I love chocolate.

1-UP Studio is just like, “we like Mario.”

That’s what I get from it too. xD

Their new name makes me think Scott Pilgrim lol.

  • Sounds extremely generic. 1-up is a common phrase already.

I liked Brownie Brown better and the name really showed in their games; everything seemed fun and cheerful (though Mother 3 was one of the emotional games I’ve played).

I can’t say I’m happy about it but from this news I can guess that they’re developing something possibly Mario-related.
