I kind of want another Castlevania with Soma Cruz. But I will play this. I do love me some Castlevania :)

  • Sevyne

It doesn’t look bad and I’ll for sure be getting this, but it really doesn’t give off any proper Castlevania vibes to me. Hard to explain it really, but the lack of awesome music probably doesn’t help it any.

    • There is something that seems off about it. I also noticed the lack of hardly any music at all during the actual game.

      • Sevyne

Yeah, my Castlevania games need the variety of classic grand piano tunes to chilling/eerie organs to grind heavy electric guitar riffs. Not this quiet nonsense. Castlevania tunes are always pure greatness and if this game has any of that then they failed to showcase it with the videos. Every single gameplay video has the same lifeless sounding ambiance going on in the background.

About an hour and a half of true Castlevania musical bliss:

That’s what it’s all about right there!

It has that generic film score/ambient nonsense that I’ve long since grown tired of in games. I want to hear something memorable not just random horns and string instruments to build tension.

      • Sevyne

Exactly! Music is extremely important in games for me. If your game is only adding to the atmosphere at best, then it’s being done wrong. Music in games needs to be so powerful and emotional that it indirectly recreates the atmosphere by pure domination. A great soundtrack can even make a mediocre game a good one.

Unfortunately Michiru Yamane left Konami some years ago; if only she had composed this game’s soundtrack…

  • Bloodios

I’m wanting that HD version for home consoles already.

    • Dean Winchester

Seriously. If they are making an HD version like Revelations I have no problem waiting.

I liked Araujo’s LOS score, so these videos were disconcertingly quiet to me. Game play’s looking good though. I’ll get this for 3DS, but I still find myself wishing it could’ve been on both portables. Would’ve been nice to have with Dracula X.

Playing through Lords of Shadow now.
There should be a disclaimer that the first two chapters are a trudge but the game picks up by chapter 3 and so far through chapter 7 has remained awesome.
Overall a little long in the tooth as they could have stood to trim some fat off the game by axing some of the filler stages.
Thescore is quite nice. Has a Dark Knight Rises vibe to me.
Looking forward to part two for sure.

Yea, his work has a very Batman feel to it.

  • LordKaiser

Idk it gives me the feel of the N64 Castlevania in atmosphere. I prefer the IGA Castlevanias.

  • I really can’t be excited for this at all knowing it was developed in HD, then shoved onto 3DS…

Waiting or an HD release to consider it.

I wish Vita would get a Metroidvania.

    ehh looks okay :
