    I came…

Man nicely done looks great XD

Enjoying my Vita rather greatly as of late. This looks much closer to a PS3 game than a handheld title. I’m especially impressed as this is their first game on the system. As long as Japanese devs keep developing awesome games I could not care less about western support. MonMon and Demon Gaze are awesome (especially MonMon’s musical score caught me off-guard for being quite stellar). I can count truly awesome western games on one hand wheres Japan keeps delivering. Feb. 28th should be quite a feast. The full potential of Senran Kagura and Takaki Ken’ichirô’s perverted genius shall be unleashed.

    • Sevyne

Now if only more of those Japanese games would make it to the west I’d be quite satisfied. Localization complaints aside, I’ve definitely enjoyed my Vita. In fact I spend a lot more time with my Vita than any of my home consoles.

      • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Yea, despite the time difference I see u quite often online on PS3’s little sister. I am afraid that most of the Japanese games won’t see the light of the western shores. Demon Gaze is probably a safe bet, though. It has some mild suggestive images but overall it’s rather tame (CERO C kinda confirms that). There have been worse dungeon crawlers localized and this one is damn good. The art is beautiful to boot.

MonMon won’t be localized, that I am certain of. Let’s just say that the CERO D rating – which is equivalent to ESRB M, as CERO Z really is just reserved for extremely gory games, kinda like a hard M rating – does not pertain to the story or any violence. The story can get a little bit dark/frightening at times but nothing past CERO C material and the “violence” during the card battles is extremely stylized and cute. It’s really a shame as the game looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous. The artwork and animated dialog sequences (each character moves their mouths and is sometimes accompanied by emoticon-like mood-signifyers) are fluent and reek of much higher production values than Compile Heart usually gets credited for and the musical score is simply amazing.

It is, however, extremely import friendly as every new mechanic gets introduced with an accompanying illustrated tutorial. As if the developers were expecting international Vita gamers to import the title as localization prospect seem rather bleak.

        • Sevyne

Yeah, since Vita is still sort of in it’s infancy I’ve held out on importing anything in case Sony decide to take action themselves to get those games published here to boost the Vita. I’m only giving it a little longer then I’m going to cave and start grabbing a a bunch of stuff.

          • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Well, thanks to PS+ we should be getting some more free games soon. Didn’t have to buy the US version of Gravity Daze and Wipeout at all as I’ve received them free courtesy of PS+. Hope there are more games being released on PS+ soon. Basically I’m taking quite the opposite approach as I import JP versions while waiting for the localized ones to be offered for free on Plus.

  • Himiko

Looks beautiful. Now i hope for a completely new trailer

  • aw man, everything is great in this game. cannot wait to get more information about the online modes *O*

  • zakou

Is God Eater like Monster Hounter? From the gameplay it looks typical MH cloneish however i may be wrong, also does it have any good story?

    • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Juxtaposed with MH it actually has a story at all :P

    • Himiko

Somewhat different. Actually has AI that helps for one. Neither are clones.

    • Maybe on paper but the gameplay is really different, it takes some aspects from MH like breakable parts, hitting certain body parts for higher damage, material gathering to make new weapons, but gameplay is much more fast paced but still requires you to dodge and block properly. Plus there’s a decent story in it too and an amazing soundtrack.

    • Skerj

Monster Hunter has the advantage in the adventure aspect, something a lot of developers seem to mess up when making games in that vein. God Eater makes up for it with combat and bullet crafting, oh the hours spent editing bullet designs.

I still want to explore and scavenge the ruins properly instead of just picking up glowing orbs on the ground as I see them; but between this, Soul Sacrifice, and PSO2, my Vita will not go unused.

    • From my experiences;
God Eater = Somewhere between slow-paced Monster Hunter and fast-paced Ragnarok Odyssey

Plus it has a story and better allied AI than MH’s….

  • tubers

It barely looks above a the PSP game (or must be the youtube video) and what’s with the horrible lip synching?

Still, I hope it makes it to the West. We need every software we can get to keep things above water.

  • I’m just hoping if they DO localize this; Johnny Young Bosch reprises his role as Kota.

  • PrinceHeir

yes another amazing Vita game :D

  • LordKaiser

At least this one is not under D3 Publisher so it may be fully supported. I think… (Still wanting Graces f CG costumes).

  • At least the Vita gets this since its not getting Monster Hunter. Everyone loves these types of games they are so much fun : D

  • Eclipse

    That was incredible!

Now it seems that I’m going to have a tough time deciding whether I’ll be using the Buster Blade or the Charge Spear…

  • ShinAsura

I’ll check this out for sure, i’ve missed out on the series

  • DrForbidden

Looks great and all, but I can’t help but be disappointed by the lack of boobage in this sequel…

  • The lightning is some of the best I’ve seen on an handheld… In anime game of course…

This will keep me busy till monster hunter comes around…

    • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

I doubt u will even wanna play Capcom’s mediocre game after you’ve played this. Capcom don’t give a rat’s ass about Vita now anymore so I don’t give a rat’s ass about their most successful franchise which looks meh to me anyways.

      • Are you being honest on your appraisal of Monster Hunter’s qualities, or just upset it’s not available on your Vita and therefore ditching the game to make you feel better about it?

        • Sevyne

Honestly I know it’s just an opinion, but MH is pretty damn terrible to me. The games play unbearably slow and the lack of any real story makes for a real drag as well. God Eater’s pace was just much better and it actually had a decent story for a game of it’s genre. I’m pretty sure he feels the same way.

For the record I own a 3ds too so I’m not speaking as someone mad that it isn’t on Vita, but as someone who genuinely thinks Monster Hunter seriously sucks.

          • The Monster Hunter series is very hardcore as ever… If you’re a beginner, then you’re pretty much screwed if you don’t know what you’re doing…

            “The games play unbearably slow”
Yes, it’s slow-paced hence why some people have earned their 100-hour save files… Hunting was never to be fast-paced and I felt immersed this way..

“the lack of any real story makes for a real drag”
Wait for MH4 if what Capcom says is true about its story… Though MH was never been about the story but the hunting experiences…

It’s one of those games that it’s hard at the beginning but easy once you get the hang of it… Think beginner’s Dark Souls…

            • Sevyne

You are talking as if I am a beginner at the games because I think they suck. I’ve poured a lot of time into several of them and yet was never truly satisfied with them, so don’t assume I’m just some random dude that picked one game up for a short bit and dropped it. That’s not who I am.

“Yes, it’s slow-paced hence why some people have earned their 100-hour save files… Hunting was never to be fast-paced and I felt immersed this way..”

That really makes zero sense. I don’t feel any sense of accomplishment watching water slowly drip into an empty cup until it fills. That’s how I feel playing Monster Hunter. Is it a game of skill and dedication? To an extent, but it isn’t fun for me in any way. The slow pace is a drag and doesn’t add anything to the games other than testing my patience in a way a game should not. It’s a form of artificial difficulty that it didn’t even need.

Anyway, it’s clear that it has it’s fans (and a lot of them), but don’t assume that those of us who think they aren’t good don’t want a challenge. I love ball-breakingly hard games, but MH isn’t even really that hard. It’s just boring as sin. I just want games of a similar style that aren’t as slow as old people f**king. I want to actually play the game.

PS: I’m not trying to sound like a jerk btw even if it may seem that way. If you like MH then that’s cool. More games for you to enjoy and that’s always a plus.

              • I thought you’re one of those people who gave up because of the difficult learning curve… My apologies…

Working towards into finally killing that monster which can take away more than half of your health or a monster with a thick rocky skin using a long sword, I felt like I accomplished something impossible… The combat is about patience when I think about it,look at the timing for attacking and dodging… It’s like fishing, if you don’t have patience then you mind as well give up…

” I just want games of a similar style that isn’t as slow as old people f**king. I want to actually play the game.”
To each to their own, I guess…

                • Sevyne

Indeed to each their own. If you enjoy it then you should keep enjoying it. What my opinion is is just my own.

        • Now.. Now…

I’m not gonna judge where it’s on… BUT I’m going to on how it “looks” on it… MH4 is literally an eyesore where as bright colors are everywhere and those textures… Capcom, it’s a (beep) 3DS for (beep)’s sake… Resident Evil Revelations is one of the good looking games that you made…. And you gave MH this treatment instead?

Thankfully, MH3U is more easy on my eyes…

        • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

I genuinely dislike MonsterHunter as I consider it being Japan’s most overrated gaming franchise. I’d like to emphasize that I’m primarily a solo gamer only dipping into MP if trophies require it or if it’s genuinely fun. Thus I have no love whatsoever for MH whereas I can enjoy GE as an SP-oriented gamer. That is, obviously, just my personal opinion and you’re free to disagree but my statement was genuine. MH has no interesting Story to offer, the characters are lame/shallow/boring and the “armor designs” (or whatever those huge-ass atrocities are officially referred as) are fugly. Again: my personal opinion. I do not like MH.

      • Depends on my pacing… If I’m in relaxed mood, I go for monster hunter and if I’m in action mood, I go for God Eater/Ragnarok Odyssey for that fast-paced action….

It’s Monster Hunter, how can I resist? ^_^””

  • Barrit

So.. anyone know when Bugarally is on?
