Stay tuned for the more detailed announcement next month.

Capcom has announced Capcom Arcade Cabinet for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in this week’s issue of Famitsu.

A free release, the game will see Capcom’s retro arcade titles “perfectly reproduced” and distributed in order.

We take it that means it’s a hub for retro Capcom arcade titles, which you’ll have to purchase separately. But there is one starter game you will be able to play for free. We’re not sure what it is, though. There are plans for packs containing a number of titles that will be “surprisingly cheap.”

It is unknown whether there will be online play, but there are online rankings. Capcom promises a more detailed announcement on February 7.

Note: Xbox LIVE Arcade box art for Capcom Arcade Cabinet was leaked last month, signaling a likely worldwide release.

Thanks, Game Nyarth.

so it’s just an app to download so you can buy them separately??

They could had opened a space on PS Home instead It would be more easier. If Capcom where in other hands we would see the series we asked for. Even the Gargoyle Ques series would be revived.

  • Capcom has also announced a Resident Evil Anniversary Package. Currently it is set to be released March 22 in Japan. No word on this set coming to the west.

From what I can tell — You get download codes for RE 1-3. Physical copies of RE 5 Gold Edition, RE6, and RE Revival Selections. I think selections includes HD versions of RE4 and Code Veronica.

Now, a Mega Man anniversary package?

im disappointed with the lack of discs.

as well as using “best” or the cheap yellow label.

      also no chronicles HD edition.

      the RE 15th anniversary

contained disc versions of RE1-RE3 with Revival Selections

no RE0 or REmake though :(

other than the box, the 15th anniversary is much better

      • If they bring it to the west, perhaps it might be better? I’m going to guess the PS1 games will be downloads regardless though.

though i doubt Capcom US even cares about it :

I’d be happy if Rival Schools, Project Justice, the Power Stones, and Cannon Spike were somehow included in this little project with GGPO netcode. Capcom can take all my money then.

  • I’d rather a blueray for all at once like sonic ultimate collection. But if they are going to release them one by one I can check out the reviews for each. But then again they did not say anything about a US release.
