"I'm thinking there are a lot of things I want to prepare."

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, Square Enix and Silicon Studio’s new 3DS RPG released in Japan this past October, has shipped 300,000 copies, producer Tomoya Asano revealed during a 4Gamer interview published today.

“Yes, I’d like to report to everyone that Bravery Default has broken over 300,000 copies shipped,” he said. “I think by the end of the month, the sales numbers will achieve 300,000.”

Additionally, Asano teased new developments for the franchise.

“The official [Bravely Default] Twitter account has been in a silent state lately, partly because the consumer camp has been all out of information,” said Asano. “However, from this year to about next year, I’m thinking there are a lot of things that I want to prepare for everyone to look forward to, so please continue to follow the Twitter account. I want to share information with everyone as soon as developments start again, so thank you in advance.”

A western release for Bravely Default has not been announced.

Why haven’t you announced it, Square?!

“Why haven’t you announced it, Square?!”

Because this is not FF XIII…

    • TheFoolArcana

Square doesn’t like bringing their good games over to the west. Why do you think we still don’t have Type-0?

      • Perhaps because Toriyama didn’t make it and Lightning does not appear in it?

        • Sevyne

If we ever got it here, he’d change class zero to class xiii and recast everyone in it to be lightning.

          • Actually Seven is already like replica of Lightning (except her trademark pink hair). Guess that’s not impressive enought.

            • Sevyne

Haha. Ya got a point, but yeah; Not enough for them!

      • Pyrofrost

Type-0 isn’t all that, to be honest. It’s better than the CC stuff, but not as good as any of the #ed installments.

        • almostautumn

Gotta disagree with you. I played through type-0 without even understanding the language and honestly had the most fun I’ve ever had with the FF gameplay; it really is that good of a game, and should not be minimized. I can’t speak for the rest of it, but man— dark, cinematic, and very, very creative.

Because it’s our fault for not showing enough interest in it.

    • KurisuMakise

Truer words…That and something something handheld games in the west =(

    • YangTerlupakan

actually 3DS and PS3 market is different
so FFXIII and BD is not same

    • PrinceHeir

you know what’s the solution in all of this?

put Lightning as a guest character in both Bravery Default and Final Fantasy Type-0.

      this will be localized ASAP!

  • “Why haven’t you announced it, Square?!”

    Indeed, I don’t understand…

“Why haven’t you announced it, Square?!”

Maybe they think they’d barely cover their localisation costs, but still… There’s no reason not to try. It’s just them being too cautious, just as with Type-0.

    • The difference being, by the time Type-0 came out the PSP was basically dead in the West. Lack of a install base is surely not a problem for a 3DS game though, so Bravely Default really has no reason to suffer the same fate.

      • xMCXx

The PSP wouldn’t have died that fast if they just gave us all the good stuff Japan got!

“It’s a nut, you can play, OUTSIDE, Whaaaaaaaat.”

I learned a very important lesson that day, marketing is truly a frightening tool, i was really glad when sony announced they laid off their marketing team by the end of the last year.

  • epy

SE too busy making iOS money grabs to spend money translating critically and commercially well received games.

  • if yer dat worried, offer a discount fer Kingdom Hearts 1.5 wit it.

  • MagoIichi

Because you don’t love Lightning enough.

  • Duc PC-QB

BD2 will be announced when FFXIII-4 released

  • We need this game

  • new_tradition

I don’t know why people keep bashing Square Enix. I think fantastic games come outta that place.

The localization branches, though…They leave a lot to be desired :/

    • Sevyne

And if you actually read the comments, everyone is pretty much talking about their crappy localization choices.

      • new_tradition

If it’s the FFXIII titles you’re implying about, I’m actually quite fond of them and looking forward to LR, so…

        • Sevyne

Not just those, but the fact that they have a good amount of games people are interested in that they refuse to localize.

          • new_tradition

Oh no, I absolutely agree. That’s why I said the “localization branches” can improve by bringing out more games, especially ones that are in demand.

  • I’ll buy a 3DS just for this game… so Square get on the localizations

  • Please bring this game to the west.

  • Yeah well at least we got All the Bravest.
