Famitsu this week introduces a new weapon and field area for Monster Hunter 4.
The Charge Axe, teased in silhouette form over the past few weeks, can be separated into sword and axe modes. In sword mode, players can perform quickly coordinated attacks, as well as shield themselves. By joining together the sword and shield, you can build up Charge Energy, which is accumulated in a bottle located within the sword’s handle.
The Charge Axe can be separated into Sword and Axe modes. In Sword mode, players are given a sword and shield, the former to perform quick and coordinated attacks, the latter to defend.
By combining the sword and shield, players can build up Charge Energy, which is accumulated in a bottle located within the sword’s handle. Once the handle begins to glow yellow, energy can be charged. Continuously attack while it’s yellow, and it will begin to glow red, which charges more energy.
Axe mode allows the Charge Axe to deal higher damage at longer reach. It also allows players to use their Charge Energy for attribute attacks. Axe mode has a finishing move which can stun the enemy, but it requires additional button input.
It is also possible to continue attacking enemies between mode shifts.
The new field introduced this week is called “Primeval Forest.”
