  • As a SRW fan who has been loving every SECOND of the new one, I am pleased to see that it is at the top! I was displeased with the sales of E.X. Troopers, despite liking that game, but this more than makes up for it, heh.

    • almostautumn

I’ve been thinking of grabbing that; how’s the language barrier? I didn’t have too much of an issue with one of the JPN ones because it was very similar to the GBA english one. Is this one a lot more complex, or can it be managed with just memorization of the previous systems?

      • MrKappa

You can play any SRW as long as you figure out the menus. Within a week any game dedicated site should have the forum/board members pushing out full menu translations. As long as you don’t care about the story the language barrier doesn’t matter.

      • They added a couple of new systems, but if you’re familiar with the other menus, you’ll be fine. Besides, they have a tutorial mode on the main menu you can go through (known as “guidance scenario”, iirc). Between that and people on forums posting translations, and whatnot, it shouldn’t be too difficult to go through.

        Plus, you’ve got this too:

        • Kobracon

Gotta love Akurasu. I wouldn’t know anything about the story or characters if it weren’t for that site.

  • Kobracon

I was lucky enough to be in the game shop, chatting up with the owner, WHEN SUDDENLY A SHIPMENT OF SRW COMES IN! It was like a sign from god and I bought it on the spot. The HD-ness is making me cry manly tears T_T

    • How are you going to play it with all of the Kanji and not knowing what all your moves due?

      • Kobracon

I have played the series since I was 10 years old. The system has remained mostly unchanged for years and is very playable with minimal trial and error. The only thing you really miss is the story. The bot names you learn down the road with the plethora of wiki’s and faqs done by people who can fully read japanese.

        • I love how whenever there’s a new Japanese game that comes out, there always seems to be a guy that asks, “How will you play it without understanding it?”, lol. As if Japanese people are the only people that understand Japanese :P

          • Kobracon

I think its more like “How can you play it if you don’t know Japanese”, of which I didn’t know when I was about 10. I just played it through trial and error and enjoying the animations.

          • Ouch that was rather mean and trolly. You don’t happen to be a member of the Macross World Forums? I was mainly asking this person if these games are import friendly to find out if the moves are in english and menus, while the story is in Japanese. I know there are english speakers that speak Japanese and now I know there are trolls that speak it too.

            • You consider that “mean and trolly”…? Wow, lol. Nathan Britt, I’d like to introduce you to a friend of mine.

Internet, meet Nathan Britt. He’s new around here, so I’d like you to show him around if you would. I’m sure he’d like that too.

              You two have fun now.

          • almostautumn

Because this is a western import-gaming website; it’s assumed that the majority of posters are western, and as English is the main-language of the world, there is no reason to assume that another poster knows Japanese.

  • stealth20k

    must import robot

  • fqc

It’s sad to see how the sales go down for each new major SRW OGs game, especially after nearly 5 years of development. Not that 200k is a disaster but I really hope we’ll see more home console SRW in the future. Nothing beats watching the battle animations on a big screen.

I wish they would at least try localizing this one. It might do relatively well, even as a PSN release.

  • Belenger

Ouch and now Extroopers dissapeared from charts :/, ichiban hoshi~

  • Kazziyan

Fate/Stay Night sold that high? why. :|

    • MrKappa

      Name brand.

      • Kazziyan

Yeah. :/ Deserves much less, though…

        • Luna Kazemaru

          • Kazziyan

            Because I dislike it. :P

Fate/Zero is better although not by much. That should have a PSVita version.

            • Luna Kazemaru

That’s a pretty silly reason just saying but w/e.

              • Kazziyan

Fair enough. Shiro is a big factor in why I dislike it and why it should do bad. xD

  • Where is EX Troopers?!

    • DarthBrian

Dropped out of the top 20 apparently.

  • InsaneChronos

    Wow @ Realta Nua O_o

  • HeatPhoenix

E.X. Troopers is a good game. Really. But it’s very unpolished and the PS3 version really shows that it’s a 3DS game but ported upwards to the PS3.

Though it really doesn’t deserve a mere 30 000 in sales. Quite sad. I guess Capcom’s gonna have to make a Turbo Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 to compensate.

    • almostautumn

I am actually wondering if they’re going to bother localizing it now. From what I remember, the reason we didn’t get The Last Ranker is because of it bombing in sales. Then again, they haven’t not localized a console game yet this gen (except MH 3rd HD, but that one makes sense as to why not).

      • Raiyu

60k is considered a bomb? Last Ranker didn’t get localized simply because it was on the PSP and its Capcom.

        • almostautumn

60k is definitely a bomb for a company like Capcom, and especially in Japan where majority sales are handheld. From what I remember, it also didn’t get too hot a review from famitsu— maybe they really have so great an effect on consumer minds?

        • HeatPhoenix

The PSP is definitely a good reason. The PSP is dead in the west besides for piraters and import players like us.

    • While I hate that Capcom just lazily upscaled the game for the PS3, I agreed that it should deserve more….

      • HeatPhoenix

Did you ever get the game?

        • Ordered one… Who knows when it will be by my doorstep…

          • HeatPhoenix

            Did you order SAL?

            • Nah… I gone with Economy package from playasia…

              • HeatPhoenix

I see. Well, that shouldn’t be TOO long. It’s a good game, look forward to it. Can you read Japanese?

                • If the game contains a lot of Kanji, I probably can… Otherwise I just play through and see how it goes…

Playasia games usually reach my home around a month or so… So who knows when…

                  • HeatPhoenix

You should be fine then. As a tip, 教官 means instructor.

                    • Yeah.. The word ‘教’ usually mean ‘teach’ while ‘官’ would mean ‘official’.. These two combined means an official teacher or in a similar word, instructor…

                    • HeatPhoenix

It was the first time I saw that compound word though, so I figured I’d mention it to you. Sadly, knowing what the kanji mean in other words doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll know how to read it in another one, hehe.

                    • Usually words like this have a deeper meaning into it.. You just have to break it down and find out what it means…

  • Raiyu

OG 2nd will be on my list of games to buy…right after I finished OG2. Whenever that may be!

  • KingOptimusOrigins111

PS3 doing good on the software sales.
