Touch play combat on your PlayStation Vita.

Tecmo Koei and Team Ninja have shared new details on the additional features included in the PlayStation Vita version of Dead or Alive 5, due for PlayStation Vita on March 19, 2013.

New features include:

  • Touch Play Mode: Experience battles in Dead or Alive 5 Plus through two new styles of touch combat with the PS Vita held vertically in portrait mode to get a first-person, full-screen view of your opponent at maximum size. In Mode 1, tap the opponent to attack them in that spot. In Mode 2, touch, flick, and pinch the screen to attack your opponent with more finesse and options. Both methods offer players an instinctive way to fight while seeing their opponent in the highest graphic detail.
  • Training Plus Mode: Build your fighting skills and knowledge by playing through challenging missions, each of which offers a fun experience while imparting practical knowledge.
  • More detailed Frame Data: Three times the details for each move in real-time. Unbelievably detailed information like delay interval frames, move reach and more. A game-changing feature for serious players!
  • Cross-Compatible: Allow players to play matches against opponents on both PlayStation 3 and PS Vita while sharing costumes across both platforms.

“With touch, flick and pinch movements, you can directly attack the
opponent in an intuitive way of fighting. You can enjoy the different
reactions of the characters based on where you touch”

      I know what I’ll touch…..;3

  • Nice 1080p bullshots.

whatever, I do not give a damn :P
Having DOA5 on the go with unique Vita features (that 1st person mode is ace) and graphics close to the PS3 version don’t leave much to complain about. Cross-play and cross-DLC are a huge deal as well. Please cut TN some slack, with DOA5+ and NGS2+ they at least make some strong arguments for double dipping (I intend to buy the Vita version of DOA5 only, though).
Somehow I get the feeling that with all those ports TN know Sony’s new hardware as good, if not better than Sony’s own 1st party studios working on games (all 3 of them, or so because most only develop for PS3/4 -_-). They might treat us to some mightily impressive exclusive game in the future as the ports are already mightily handsome.

      • I didn’t mean anything by it. I’m just making fun of Tecmo’s PR strategies.

I intend to double dip and buy it, but if it comes to Wii U I’d rather buy that version instead. Though I really appreciate Team Ninja’s Vita support, even if they are just ports. I’m confident they’ll eventually develop a dedicated Vita game.

Well, I don’t know whether you would actually enjoy it on WiiU. The online community is a far stretch from PS3’s. As this is a cross play title it means we’ll be playing on the same servers as the PS3 version. WiiU online might be quite barren in comparison.
I’m putting my money on the Vita port, especially as the 1st person mode is a revolution in fighting games (no other developer has done anything comparable on a handheld).

Just imagine how awesome a Vita exclusive would be were it developed by TN. They’re probably the most experienced developer on Vita hardware by now.

Touching your opponent’s body to attack them at the spot is supposed to be intuitive?

Can you not admit that this mode is simply ‘Masturbation Mode’, KT? At least DOA: Paradise had more honest marketing.
