ZombiU reviews rounded up

Ubisoft Montpellier's zombie FPS launched on Wii U.

Wii U launched today and Ubisoft Montpellier’s ZombiU is out. The first-person shooter received mixed reviews, though the majority seem to favor the 8 to 9 range of scores. The PA Report calls it “polarizing,” describing it as “the original Resident Evil played in the first person, mixed with a good amount of Dark Souls.” Kotaku expresses similar thoughts.

Find the full list of scores below.

And because not everyone has their reviews up yet, here are a couple launch day impressions.

EG 9/10? That’s madness. Good on them.

It’s disappointing that most of the games barely live up to the standards of Xbox360 and PS3 games considering the tech is old and well-known by developers. I hope this changes with future titles and that this is just a case of launch release titles. And seriously, charging $329 (or $299) for hardware 6-7 years old padded with a cheap touch screen is really showing the new face of Nintendo and I don’t like it. I’ll get it because of the super talented Nintendo developers and Platinum who will keep me entertained with Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2 and the next Mario 3D game but just like the Wii, in 1 1/2 years time I won’t be playing it much (except for when they release Zelda).

Anyway, that’s just my 2 cents and not everyone has to agree.

Well, it’s selling at a loss, so yeah.

Honestly as a nintendo fan I am annoyed at the launch line up and how they dont seem to look all that good. But as for old tech, though this is true the new OS and system is always a challenge for developers. For example look at the XBox 360 launch games and compare them to Halo 4 the original titles have nothing on how good Halo 4 looks and plays.
It was the same with the PS3 the fist titles for a new system dont tend to get the most out of it because developers haven’t had as much time to get used to the system.
And even though the Wii U is supposed to be the start of “the next generation” people keep pointing out how similar it is to the current gen of Xbox and PS3, which will probably be true of the PS4 and 720 as well simply because there isn’t really the technology out there in people home for a massive leap in graphics and power of those consoles.
I mean nintendo is selling the wii U at a loss and out of the big 3 Nintedno and Microsoft are the only ones now who can really afford to do that, because Sony has been loosing far to much money recently.
Though I am always excited to see new tech, and what the companies can do with it, so I hope that Sony and Microsoft can do something really amazing with their next gen.

This is what I like to see from Nintendo Wii U is new ips like this.

  • The scores are sorta all over the place…

Yea, must be one of those “you’ll either love it or hate it” type of games.

I think the polarizing reviews are from people not knowing whether to treat it like an action game or a survival horror game. I haven’t played it of course, but from what I’ve seen most of the people that criticized it were because of its shortcomings as a horror game.

Seems IGN and Gamespot have become too expensive to pay off. Only EA and Activision have that kind of money.

    • Yeah and whoever reviewed the game wanted another generic FPS. This is survival horror!

If I can have everyone’s attention please!! I have the game and have been playing it since. This game is phenomenal and original in its own concept. I have no complaints and have never played a more satisfying horror game since I have played dead space and resident evil. This is a new system and has already shown us what we should expect in the future. This is game is just the tip of the iceberg baby! With that being said…enjoy the game and see for yourself. I have and is why my experience with the game industry has been so satisfying.
