    • Kazziyan

      You’ve seen it?

      • I dont give a shit about how they changed the static zones.. i just want to see if they improved combat.

        • Then watch the live letters from the producer on Youtube.

        • Kazziyan

          Yes… which you’ve seen, lol.

MMO combat is like looking at a Ferrari slam into a wall continuously from a 5 foot distance.
Just makes you go WTF and cringe

I wonder if the PS3 version will have trophies…

    • It has to, Square don’t have a say in it.

  • I’m impressed. It looks way better than the current version, and the load screens help the lag quite a bit.

  • So when are the alpha codes being sent to us SE??

    • LordKaiser

Never as only the Devs play the alpha. As you can see the monsters aggro was turned off.

      • Odd …the japanese got to play the alpha.. or was that Beta? I even seen them on the live stream playing with the devs.

        • You are correct. They have been allowing players to take part in the alpha testing.

It started back in October. I’m not sure if they have started to invite those who signed up in the west. I suppose those who are interested could still sign up.

Earlier this month, Yoshi-P said –

“The alpha test is also underway, and we’re glad to say there have been no major problems as we begin taking in lots of player feedback. We’ll continue to add more testers as we go along, so be sure to keep an eye on your inbox! (There will be an announcement on twitter when we send out invites.) “

WTF! First time I hear normal players are allowed on Alphas.

          • Thank you yes I knew because I have been fallowing the game ^_^ and Square Enix.. just crossing my fingers for Versus news  and the email for XIV alpha testing.

            • You’re Welcome. Hope you get invited. =)

      • Um not true. The alpha has gone public in Japan and other regions are expected to join the end of the month,

  • It looks great even in alpha. I can’t wait for more PS3 footage. Keep up the great work Square-Enix.

    • More PS3 footage? There hasn’t been any PS3 footage yet. That screenshot up top is from the PS3 version though.

  • Reminds me of FF12 but less restrictive…

    Looks Great

I wonder how open the beta testing will be for this game.

Also I hope SE begins to inform us of the pricing scheme for this game, especially for the PS3 version. I know it’s going to be subscription based but I wish they’d give us more specifics because I’m not keen on the fact that in the worst case scenario we’ll have to pay for a sub (which I’ve heard rumored to be around $15/month) on top of the $60 disc that as far as I know contains no offline component.

I know it’s coming out in March but they it would have been nice if they shared SOMETHING by now :| but then  again I’m not too familiar with MMOs so…oh well.

Still remaining cautiously optimistic and the game looks gorgeous, especially for an alpha build.

  • LordKaiser

I wonder if subscriptions can be bought on PSN store. It will be easier to use PSN cards to pay for them. Not that I’m getting this btw.

  • Locksus

I wish I had a solid PC to run this game and playing an MMO on a console… eh…
And it still has the monthly subscription model which I don’t approve after Guild Wars 2 :3

    • Which is the one thing that worries be the most about XIV. They didn’t take the chance to rebuild the game to match a good F2P build, and I don’t think they really have the chance anymore. Not like they did before, if they had to go F2P, it would be another bumpy transition in the game, and my heavens, it’s had plenty of those.

I just worry about people not finding enough to do when ARR goes live. The amount of content for players will play a huge role in the success of the relaunch.

      • Locksus

And while I didn’t ever play the original XIV, I think it left a bad taste in some players’ mouth so they might be hesitant to try A Realm Reborn.

  • PrinceHeir

    love the environments :D

now let’s hope the expansions will greatly expand the world of FFXIV :)
