Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3DS trailer, screenshots

Full 3D Mystery Dungeon subtitled "Magna Gate and the Infinity Labyrinth."

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is coming to 3DS in the form of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Magna Gate and the Infinity Labyrinth. This was announced earlier this week, but we missed it in the plethora of Wii U news we were covering (apologies!). Nintendo today released a trailer and set of screenshots for the game, which is due out in Japan this winter.

Like previous Mystery Dungeon games, you’ll play as a human who turns into a Pokemon after seeing a strange dream. You’re able to select between Pikachu, Oshawott, Snivy, Axew, and Teipig. Unlike previous games, this game is in full 3D. Your adventure begins after you land in an area (literally, you fall out of the sky) called Post Town. One of the game’s main features is its “Magna Gates,” which make use of the 3DS’s augmented reality capabilities to open entrances to new dungeons. You’ll need round objects to do this. With 3DS, the game also aims to more vividly depict drama.
