Nintendo is expanding its definition of entertainment with Nintendo TVii for Wii U.
Announced during the console manufacturer’s New York City press event this morning, TVii (yes, it’s really spelled that way) is an application that will allow WIi U owners in the U.S. and Canada to “watch and engage” with their favorite video content in “fun new ways.”
Using the GamePad ontroller, you’ll be able to “seamlessly” explore content throughout a variety of services. For example, if you’re into Modern Family, you can search for the latest episode, and it will give you the option to watch it on Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon, TiVo, or live television, depending on where it’s available. According to NIntendo, it’s about putting everything in one place.
If you’re watching sports content, you can see a playboard and set of game scores on the Wii U controller while watching the game on the big screen. If you’re jumping into a show and missed a portion, you can see updates, thumbnails-included, with details on the stuff you missed.
Nintendo TVii will be included with all Wii Us at no additional cost, and at no monthly fee. It’s actually quite cool. Check out a trailer below. View a set of screenshots at the gallery.
