The Last Story, Nintendo and Mistwalker‘s original action RPG, is now available at retailers across North America for $49.99, courtesy of publisher XSEED Games.
Launch copies of the game include a bonus 44-page softcover art book and a custom outer box.
Headed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, father of the Final Fantasy franchise, The Last Story follows a band of mercenaries on their journey to gain wealth and popularity. The game promises an engaging story, environmental interaction, and an action-oriented battle system that utilizes cover, both ranged and melee combat, and strategic elements, such as a battle comamand system, allowing players to issue orders to party members “on-the-fly.” According to XSEED, it is a blend of classic turn-based mechanics with real-time action combat.
“It has been an amazing journey for The Last Story, so to be able to share the experience with fans and supporters is very rewarding to me,” said Hironobu Sakaguchi, Director of The Last Story.
XSEED executive vice president Ken Berry added: “This is truly one of the best, most epic adventures out there, so we are thrilled to offer our players an experience they will never forget. Through the visionary mind and talent of Sakaguchi-san and his team at Mistwalker comes a game that will be a timeless centerpiece for what storytelling and adventure mean to gamers.”
