The Game Atelier, the developer behind Flying Hamster, has announced a new game for PlayStation Vita.
SunFlowers is a game where you grow flowers using chain-reactions. It might appear casual at first, but according to the developer, there’s a lot more to it.
“You control the Sun, and you have the power to grow beautiful flowers on the ground,” said lead game designer Dr. Lakav on the PlayStation Blog. “To do this, you shoot rays of sunlight through passing clouds, which turns the sunlight into water, which in turn causes the plants to grow. But if a sun ray touches a seed or a flower, it starts to burn. Thankfully, a drop of water will clear that burn right up.”
As flowers mature, each gains two new seeds. If one drops on an empty space, it will be planted. If a flower has already been planted, the seed will bounce until it reaches an empty space, thus the game’s combo system. Every flower you grow will be added to your virtual garden, which can be shared with others using PS Vita’s “Near” function.
A few of other bits: the game has three difficulty modes (easy, normal, and hard), bonus stages, leaderboards, and you’ll encounter 330 flowers across two different worlds. Oh, and it’s played vertically.
