A story of an invisible world revealed by the rain.

One game developer made an unlikely appearance at Sony’s Gamescom press conference today: SCE Japan Studio. The Tokyo-based developer announced the production of Rain (working title), a unique new three-dimension art adventure platformer for PlayStation Network.

The trailer describes the game like so: “A boy awakes to see a girl’s silhouette in the rain. He finds himself lost in a mysterious world. Until he too becomes invisible. The boy’s figure can only be seen in the rain. A story of an invisible world revealed by the rain.” Watch the trailer for yourself below.

  • Looks very interesting and unique.

  • I love the music in the trailer.

    • Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue is a lovely piece of music indeed! ^_^

Very interesting trailer, I look forward to seeing where Japan Studio takes this. Reminds me a little bit of the atmosphere from the ‘Rule of Rose’, not quite as melancholy as that though. I wonder if this will also be a 2013 release? So many great games coming out next year! O_O

Is this really Rhapsody in Blue? Which part of the piece is that?

I thought its Claire de Lune? Maybe I was mistaken…

Gorgeous! This is the stuff I expect to see from Sony, immersive, emotional games that are treated as respectable art forms!

Hooray for new IP! Hope it turns out to be as fun as ‘Ico’ was.

Why has this studio been reduced to only PSN games this gen?  This looks and sounds AMAZING!!! I miss when Sony Japan cranked out hit after hit (Ape Escape, Ico, Shadow of Collossus, Rogue Galaxy, etc), now it seems like they either have a reduced budget to only release handheld titles (Patapon, Loco Roco, Gravity Rush), or PSN titles (Echocrome, Rain) not to say its necessarily “bad”, because they are all generally VERY good games, I’d just like to see them do full console releases more often.
