Electronic Arts announced during its summer showcase today new story-driven download content for Mass Effect 3, a release date for the ‘Firefight Weapons Pack’, and new details surrounding the Wii U version of the game.
Leviathan
Due this summer, ‘Leviathan’ sees Commander Shepard and company on the hunt for the Leviathan, “the most closely guarded secret in the galaxy,” who is said to be able to destroy a Reaper. Players will learn more about the Reapers’ origins and unravel the race’s dark history. All before the Reapers silence the secret forever.
Set during the events of Mass Effect 3, players will venture into the galaxy’s “darkest corners,” explore “uncharted systems” and new areas on the Citadel, interact with new characters, unlock the AT-12 Raider shotgun and M-55 Argus Assault Rifle, and more. It will be available this summer for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC for $10 / 800 Microsoft Points.
Firefight Weapons Pack
Featuring two powerful new weapons and five bonus weapons, this single-player download content will be available for $2 / 160 Microsoft Points on August 7.
Mass Effect 3 for Wii U
The Wii U version of Mass Effect 3 will launch day and date with the Wii U console. It features a “brand new control scheme designed to incorporate the [Wii U GamePad],” as well as bonus DLC including the Extended Cut, an Interactive back story covering previous events in the Mass Effect universe, and Mass Effect 3′s critically acclaimed Multiplayer experience.”
