Latest update from Imageepoch CEO Ryoei Mikage.

Back in May, Imageepoch CEO Ryoei Mikage said he was holding a meeting to decide whether or not its upcoming PlayStation 3 HD animation RPG Toki to Towa would come to North America. He later said they were also “considering” sale in Europe. Today, Mikage provided an update.

Asked on Twitter by a fan for the project to come stateside, he said, “The project is progressing.” Pressed for more by another fan, he added, “It contracts soon. [Localization].”

Namco Bandai owns the Toki to Towa property in Japan, so it is possible he is in talks with Namco Bandai Games America and Europe to bring the game overseas. Another possibility is NIS America, who signed an exclusive contract with the Japanese developer in November 2010 to bring their games overseas.

The art style looks amazing, I’m not surprised it’s likely getting localized.

  • Just hope the overseas release isn’t too far off from the Japanese release.

    • DarthBrian

I’m not sure about this. If it’s too close to the Japanese release they might end up region-locking it. :p

  • DarthBrian

Namco/Bandai or NISA would be fine by me. As long as we get dual-audio.

    EDIT: Or, at all…

    • Hinano

For this one I hope it has Dual-Audio. As a seiyuu otaku, I’d be outraged if they make me gimp out on Kana Hanazawa as the protagonist in a game. That’s complete torture

      • Haruya

        ^ Completely agree.

      • DarthBrian

That’s how I felt with FFXIII where Maaya Sakamoto was voicing Lightning. And then I was left bitter and disappointed when I had to import the JPN/ASIA versions for her voice. Really annoying. >_<

        • Miranda Lawson

What are you talking about!? Alli Hillis sounded WAY better than whoever it is that voiced Lightning for the Japanese version of the game. Yes, I have heard both voices and I can honestly say that Alli Hillis is the only person that sounds like Lightning to me.

          • Hinano

Hell no. And don’t you dare say “whoever” to Maaya Sakamoto(fanboyism don’t take it personally, lol). Shes much better than Ali Hillis and her emotionless voice acting for her any day. >_> Despised her as Lightning.

(This is why we need Dual Audio)

            • Zero

Is it ok to like them both? I know I do!

              • PrinceHeir

i like them both too :D

but dual audio would satisfy both sides so there’s that!!!!

            • Miranda Lawson

Alli Hillis’ voice acting was NOT emotionless. It was very emotional actually. There were ALOT of parts in XIII and XIII-2 where I had tears in my eyes because of ALL of the amazing english voice acting. I think that the person (Maaya Sakamoto) who voiced Lightning, and all of the other Japanese VAs didn’t sound as emotional and as good as the English VAs. Just my opnion though.

              • Hinano

No no no. You’ve got it mixed up. D:

Though yeah Dual Audio would solve this.

            • xMCXx

As long as I don’t need to be exposed to Leona Lewis songs…
No, I’m also for dual audio and keeping japanese songs.

              • Miranda Lawson

“Kimi ga Iru Kara” and “My Hands” are both great songs that fit FFXIII perfectly, I can’t decide which one I like better. But yeah, dual audio would make everyone happy so why not add the Japanese dubb if they have room on the disc.

        • Hinano

Yeah. one expensive import, I did it for XIII-2. Was really nice to here Kotobuki Minako and Maaya Sakamoto with subs.

  • I’ll sold my soul to Namco Bandai if they localize Toki Towa!!!

  • Locksus

Aww yeah! What an amazing week it’s been!
    Cannot wait if it’s true!

  • Anime101210

Best week for anime/jrpg fans this year!

  • mdemolish

july for Best news i hope soon we hear about FFXV

  • syaznifaiq

What? another JRPG! FF VERSUS XIII + Ni no Kuni + Tales of Xillia + Atelier Ayesha + Toki to Towa = 2013 is the BEST year ever

  • Malcolm Reynolds

Im running out of room on my Sony Exclusives cap to put anymore feathers.

Im gonna take my MS exclusives cap and start putting Sony feathers in it.
MS wont mind, its not like theyre using it :)

  • Chaos Raiden

Awesome. Hope it will be confirmed to be localised in English.

  • syaznifaiq

Foolish question.. who is the real main character in this game .. Until now all i know is Toki to Towa game have unnamed hero ( player ) but some say that we will play as a heroine ( Toki and her split personality, Towa ) .. can someone give me the answer ?

    • Yeah, it’s odd, really.

Supposedly the unnamed hero, who I believe is dubbed “Player” on the game’s official site (on mobile right now, so if anyone feels like checking), but all the media we’ve seen so far shows Toki and her other half Towa in the player’s seat. Other than the fact that he is marrying Toki, little is known about this blue haired hero.

      • vertical09

Maybe it’s sort of like fire emblem or something where the main character is you just telling people what to do.
Or it could be like a VN type protag=P

      • syaznifaiq

Thnkz Sal for the info ..yeah we have not seen even a gameplay yet ,

  • RyougaZell

It is wrong to want a game before even having seen gameplay? I want this game.

  • Zero

Hoping for good news in the near future. :)

  • Miranda Lawson

Awesome! I hope that this game gets localized because it is a JRPG, and the best part is that it is for the PS3! This better get localized, because I need more JRPGs for my PS3!

  • Miranda Lawson

Will this game actually be called “Toki to Tawa” if it comes to the West? Or will they change the name to something that people can actually understand?

    • Anime101210

Well Ni No Kuni is keeping it’s name for western release so…

      could go either way

    • It’s possible.

Toki and Towa are both characters in the game. The game’s name is actually a play on words. The kanji for “Toki” means “Time,” the syllabary “to” means “and,” and the kanji for “Towa” means “Eternity.” Essentially, the game’s title is “Time and Eternity,” however, it could also mean “Toki and Towa.” Both names, or even “Toki to Towa,” (no and) are possible.

Ni no Kuni means something like “Second Country,” but honestly, I think Ni no Kuni sounds a lot cooler. I wouldn’t mind them calling “Toki to Towa” “Time and Eternity” in overseas, though.

      • Miranda Lawson

I think that Time and Eternity sounds better than Toki to Tawa, just because I can understand what it means.

  • vertical09

So many awesome announcements this week ^^
    First xillia, now this.
If this is brought by namco, i love them again :D
If this is brought by NISA, i love them more XD

  • whiteferrero

  • PrinceHeir

    definitely excited :P

though already pre ordered the Ni No Kuni Wizard’s Edition exclusively at clubnamco store, it was a pain in the ass to order, plus they charge as soon as the process is complete(seriously it’s only been 3 seconds after the order then i saw the charge right away)

im just gonna get this out of my chest right here and right now, but will it have dual audio??

yes im still buying the game with or without dual audio, but it would be nice it it had just like Ni No Kuni and hopefully Tales of Xillia(shame Grace F has none of it)
    im just saying :P

  • zakou

Me being a huge anime fan, a huge jrpg fan and a huge fan of both anime and games in HD this is like a dream come true, and knowing that the heroine has dual personalities makes it even better.

Europe or not im still getting US import :D
