Rumor: Sony and Gaikai deal to bring PS3 streaming backwards compatibility
Service to offer PS2 and PSone games, says source.
Sony’s deal with a major cloud gaming service to be announced at E3 next week is one with Gaikai, and will allow PlayStation 3 owners to play PlayStation 2 and PSone games via a streaming solution, according to a GI.biz source.
The service is said to offer first-party games, and will be open to third-party games, as well.
When reached for comment, both Sony and Gaikai declined to comment.
The most recent in the Sony cloud rumors suggested Sony will acquire the company. A deal is said to be “close to being signed.”
