Two years ago, Hothead Games, which developed the first two episodes of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, left the series to work on DeathSpank, as working on two projects at once would affect the quality of the third episode.
Now, Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness is back, with the third episode currently underway at Zeboyd Games, developer of RPG throwbacks Cthulu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII. It will be released as Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 this summer for Xbox LIVE Indie Games, PC, Mac, iOS and Android.
Joystiq has a first look at the project, which shifts the series’ 3D art style to Final Fantasy-esque 2D sprites. Read its preview here. View the first screenshots at the gallery. The game will be shown at PAX East this weekend, if you’re going to be in town.
