The fifth character class for Borderlands 2 will arrive via download content. She is called the “Mechromancer.”
“During our panel at PAX East, we revealed the first details of an idea we have,” said studio community manager Chris Faylor on the official Gearbox blog. “That idea being, what if we could add a new playable class to Borderlands 2 after we’ve completed the development of the game? And the name we’re giving to that idea is the Mechromancer.”
Development on the Mechromancer will not begin until after the game is finished and in certification. She currently exists only in the form of sketches. Details on how she will play or become available are yet to be finalized, though the team is hoping to release the character 60 to 90 days following the game’s release. A compatibility update allowing players who don’t have the character to play with those that do will be released around the same time.
