Sleeping Dogs, Theatrhythm, Hitman, and more.

Square Enix has big plans for next weekend’s PAX East in Boston.

The following titles will be playable at Square Enix’s booth:

  • Heroes of Ruin (3DS) – visitors who demo the epic action-adventure title for Nintendo 3DS system can receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win their very own Nintendo 3DS system; those who upload photos of themselves with hero weaponry props (available at booth) to their own Facebook page can earn another raffle ticket for the drawing.
  • Quantum Conundrum (PSN, XBLA, PC) – show attendees will be among the first members of the community to playthe first-person environmental puzzle game from Airtight Games and Kim Swift, co-creator of Portal.
  • Risen 2: Dark Waters (PS3, 360, PC) – player decisions will help shape their world in the next installment of Deep Silver’s open world RPG. Featuring a swashbuckling pirate theme, a hands-on demo awaits intrepid buccaneers at the Square Enix booth.
  • Sleeping Dogs (PS3, 360, PC) – the free-roaming, undercover thriller set in Hong Kong’s Triad underworld will feature a playable demo that encapsulates the game’s combat, narrative, driving and open world elements.
  • Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy (3DS) – the first-ever music-themed title that commemorates the Final Fantasy franchise’s 25th anniversary merges rhythm and role-playing game genres.
  • WAKFU (PC) – the recently launched MMORPG from Ankama Studios offers attendees the chance to demo 12 available classes. Upon request, the first 1,500 visitors will receive an exclusive PAX East in-game item, as well as two weeks of free premium game time. Fans will also be eligible to spin the WAKFU Prize Wheel for a chance to win branded merchandise.

Square Enix will also hot a Hitman: Absolution panel featuring a gameplay demo and Q&A session with Io Interactive. It will be hosted by Io art director Roberto Marchesi on Saturday April 7, from 7:30 to 8:30pm at the Manticore Theater.

And for the 21 and older crowd, Square Enix is hosting a Hitman: Absolution / Sleeping Dogs-themed event at the Faneuil Hall on Friday night. To get in, you’ll need a PAX East badge and legal identification.

  • A bit disappointed that FF Versus XIII is not in the lineup. I am excited about Sleeping Dogs though.

  • L_kira

I didn’t know Quantum Conundrum will be published by SE. Can’t wait for that. I’ve given up on vXIII. If it comes, good. If it doesn’t, meh. There are other games out there.

  • Kurai Warrior

*sigh* another gaming convention with no Versus XIII. Pitiful.

  • Sal Romano

It’s PAX East, guys. There’s no reason to think Versus XIII would re-debut here before it does in Japan.

    Unless it’s E3.

    • Malcolm Reynolds

@Sal Romano: Where in the Hades is FF Type-0????

Why would Square not at least consider releasing it digitally in the US?

I know they don’t care about their fans anymore so a retail collectors version is out of the question but I would buy it digitally if I had to.

So disappointed in my favorite game developer for the last few years. Sadly my sheepish behind will still be purchasing whatever scraps they decide to let fall from their table. :(

      • whiteferrero

        @Malcolm Reynolds: They’re still revamping it for Vita. . . Maybe . . .

    • Zero

      @Sal Romano:

I’m looking forward to new footage from a few of these games.

Quantum Conundrum, and Hitman: Absolution both look pretty good. I also think Sleeping Dogs looks promising. I’m glad Square-Enix is giving the developers another chance, after Activision gave them the boot.

  • ayman

actually, Kim Swift is the “creator” of portal, not “co-creator”, because she’s the creative director on Quantum Conundrum (who brings the ideas), so I think she was the creative director on Portal, she’s really genius and I’m interested in her game (Quantum Conundrum)

  • FearMonkey

Pretty boring line-up and I had low expectations pre-clicking-on-article.

  • RyoonZ

Sleeping Dogs is the most interesting title here.

    • Malcolm Reynolds

@RyoonZ: Which is shameful from Square Enix considering it was a cancelled Activision game.

  • captainhowdy

I’m excited for Hitman: Absolution. Please don’t suck.

  • RyougaZell

    No Type-0 is dissapointing

  • anime10121

Still no mention of Kingdom Hearts and its western release info. I know they announced it in December of last year, but they also released a website during the same month that has a localized trailer coming soon mention, and guess what 4 months later its still coming “soon”.
Come on NA SQ give me some kind of info on my favorite series, with its release in Japan it only makes avoiding spoilers SO much harder!

  • FinalFantasy_fangirl

    No Tomb Raider?!?

  • sirauron14

why is their no FFX HD news its a shame how long it takes SE to announce a game… this better be good
