BioWare was once at work on a Mass Effect first-person shooter called Mass Effect: Team Assault, the Final Hours of Mass Effect 3 iPad app has revealed.
“The goal was simple,” said Geoff Keighley, who created the app, “to create a standalone multiplayer experience in the Mass Effect universe that would mix the play styles of Unreal Tournament and Battlefield 1943 – and likely be released as a downloadable game.
It was in development for four months before it was presented in March 2010, where management decided to change direction. The concept soon morphed to become Mass Effect 3‘s third-person co-op multiplayer mode, and Team Assault “was put on the back burner.”
You can read more in the app itself, which you can purchase for $2.99 on the App Store.
