If this key artwork of Assassin’s Creed III sent in to Kotaku by a Best Buy worker – supposedly snapped from their employee news section – is legitimate, then the long-awaited threequel to the series may just be set during the American Revolution.
The image shows a new assassin standing against a Continental American flag backdrop. He is wearing an 18th-century military jacket, and appears to be Native American. He is also carrying a tomahawk.
Earlier today, the official Assassin’s Creed Facebook teased a “major announcement” only “days away,” and added to keep an eye on the game’s official site tomorrow for “more details.” It also made this image its cover photo, accompanied with the text, “With Julián Auditore and Valley Forge.”
Though not yet officially announced (and by that, we’re talking by means of a press release), Ubisoft confirmed Assassin’s Creed III for an October 30 release earlier this month.
We’ll mail Ubisoft for comment.
