An hour ahead of what is believed to be the official reveal of Resident Evil 6, IGN sources, said to be “within the development team,” have provided the site first details and a GameStop poster with a logo and release date.
According to the sources, both Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield will be playable. The game’s scope “certainly seems larger than any Resident Evil title we’ve seen so far,” according to the site.
Both Chris and Leon will have partners, who are yet to be revealed, similar to the Chris Redfield/Jessic Sherawat and Jill Valentine/Parker Luciani combinations in Resident Evil: Revelations. Chris and Leon will have their own separate stories, which overlap at some point.
Ada Wong will also be playable, though her storyline won’t be available until after the Chris and Leon arcs have been completed.
Resident Evil 6 is set across the globe, including China, which was first rumored after a resume leak. The game itself is being developed by the “same internal Japanese team that has worked on previous entries,” according to VentureBeat. They also suggest the game is attempting to establish a middle ground between horror and action.
According to the poster, the game will launch on November 20, 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
When contact, Capcom said it does not comment on rumors and speculation.
